Maybe I'll just never find a job I can work again. I didn't go to work today. I did call them and tell them I was sick...but it was only my third day. THIRD DAY.

The environment was just tiring me out. Like I said, on day 1, nothing was ready for me, so I just sat in my office like doing nothing, I didn't even have a mouse so it was hard to do the research I was doing and compile it because it's really hard just to use a track pad to do all that.

Then the second day, well, I finally got a mouse. It wasn't until the end of the day that I got email and access to the network server. And all day long the guy in the office next to me was talking (very loudly) about a local college football team...and because the office walls are so thin, I could hear everything. Then in the morning all these people kept coming in the office and exclaiming about my service dog...I think this morning I just lost it and couldn't put myself in that loud environment again.

What am I going to do? Plus to accept this job I can only let them pay me like $10 an hour.

I'm up for some other jobs that I have interviews for. I can make the same as working for them freelancing with these other gigs, I think. Plus I'm up for full-time work. But how am I going to make it through full-time work if I can't make it through 5 hours 4 days a week?!

I really don't know what to do. I can't survive on SSDI alone. So I either need to go back to work full-time or get some freelancing that is steady but not making me work for $10 an hour to make it work.

I really don't know what to do right now.

I know in your last job this wasn't an option, but how about headphones and music to drown out your loud co-worker? Is it a possibility here?

For me, if I wasn't able to use music to drown out the environment around me, I don't think I'd be able to get through a lot of days.

The interest in your service dog will probably go away soon. It's just something new.

Hang in there, give this a little more time and see what you can do to reduce the issues within the environment.

Too late...I quit today. It just wasn't worth it. But I'm hoping to have a part-time gig that's freelance, and I'll work from home, locked in later this week.

You have to do what's best for you. I'm sure it was the best decision.

Good luck with it, Seesaw.

I'm new. Sorry for bursting in on your conversation.

It's work-related issues that led me to join the forum, so I can't offer good advice, but I certain can understand and sympathise.
Thanks for this!

I notice all the meds you have been on. Has any doctor tried combinations of these meds? I was depressed and pretty Treatment resistant The partial solution was to have med combination that work on three neurotransmitters:Serotonin, Norepinephrine, and Dopamine. I know everyone responds differently so I won't name the meds I am on. I say this is only a partial solution because I've occasionally have had breakthrough depression. As a matter fact I'm coming out of my 4th episode (in 27 years) of MDD that started in late July. I think the combo I am on makes for fewer, less disabling and shorter episodes of Major Depressive Disorder when there is a breakthrough.

Hi, yes, we've tried combinations. Right now though, since I lost my full-time job in July and my insurance, I have run out of meds and am no longer on anything. And to tell you the truth, I don't notice much difference. I'm trying to manage my depression through diet, exercise, music, and different means of mood elevation. When I do get back to seeing my pdoc, I am only going to ask for help with my sleep disorder, which is part of the MDD.
