Hello everyone, my name is Jim I am a 28 year old college graduate with a BA in Psychology. I have been working in Human Resources for what will be 3 Years in July, specifically though I have only been in the Pension Subdivision of the Department, so I do not have what would probably be considered traditional Human Resources experience. I am at a point where I need to make more money then I do now and sure enough that means probably continuing my education.

One of the career paths I was considering was the Conflict Resolution path, as I was exploring what I could do with a Degree in Psychology this came up and thought I might be able to do this, but I have been asking to no avail, do I need to go back to school to get a BA in Conflict Resolution respectively, or can I simply go forward with a Masters in Conflict Resolution because I have the BA in Psychology? It would seem that some of my research showed that one could go straight into the Graduate Degree from where I am.

If someone could answer this question that would be appreciated, and if someone can propose some online school by which I can realize this goal that would be even more amazing!
Hugs from:

Hello Jim: Thanks for signing in. I don't know to what extent anyone here on PC will be able to answer your questions. We are mostly consumers of mental health services. And our primary purpose is to provide one another with support as well as to exchange information & experiences. Still... there are a lot of members here with a wide range of experiences. So perhaps someone will be able to come forth with the information you seek.

I see this is your first post here on PC. So... welcome to PsychCentral! I hope you find the time you spend here to be of benefit.

I don't know, of course, if you're here simply seeking advice with regard to this particular concern or if you plan to continue posting. However, should you be planning to continue on (we hope you do)... may I suggest you introduce yourself over on PC's New Member Introductions forum? Here's a link:

https://forums.psychcentral.com/new-...introductions/

There's a lot of support that can be available here on PC. The more you post, & reply to other members' posts, the more a part of the community you will become. Plus there are the chat rooms where you'll be able to interact with other PC members in real time (once your first 5 posts have been reviewed & approved.) So please keep posting!

Hi Jim, and welcome to the Work subforum!

I do not know specifically about your field, but from my knowledge of other fields, I believe you could go straight into a masters. That is what I would recommend. I imagine there may be some pre-reqs that you'd have to complete. I know plenty of people in my field who have BAs in other areas but then got their masters in my field. It also depends on work experience.

Conflict resolution is an oft over-looked skill. I wish you best of luck!
