Studying and working hard is a good solution. Honestly Excel is NOT easy if you want to use it for more than basic spreadsheet. I’d take a class ASAP.

Did they not ask you all this on the interviews? Like did they not ask what kind of stuff you can do? Did they not give job description? I’d say it’s on them then.

Another option is to ask if they have lower level positions if you aren’t ready for the higher one? Or maybe a different role?

In a meanwhile maybe I’d keep an eye open or something else what might be out there.

Actually I’d probably tell my boss that in a previous job I didn’t have to do these reports as they were done automatically and you need some time to learn how to do them well so they are pf good quality. Maybe they have some quick tutorials or could assign someone to spend time showing you things.

I think some assumptions were made based on my years of experience, possibly.

I am not going to ask them to lower my position. I have to rise up to the challenge and just learn learn learn as much as I can and as fast as I can.

Yeah.... I need to up my skills in Powerpoint and Excel for certain. I think I will just do this on my own without revealing how little I know.

Thanks for the encouragement!

I realized that while I may not be as advanced as my more senior colleagues, that I DO have knowledge and experience to offer that is valuable and will help me in my role. I need to remember that I actually have learned a lot over the last ten years in my field, and that experience cannot be downplayed or forgotten about. Once again, I need more confidence in myself and in my own talents and abilities. Heck, I've developed websites of my own before, I've overhauled a website in a job once before, and I've learned complex systems and processes before..... if I can do all that, then I can certainly rise to this new challenge. It's really not rocket science - my field - it just takes careful thought and thorough understanding.

I am very concerned about my wrist injury and cannot see a doctor yet. I am most frustrated that my health insurance won't kick in for another 2-3 weeks, and in the meantime, I have an injury?????? The tingling in my fingers is beyond annoying. I've done everything now to make my work station ergonomic, and I bought a wrist brace. At-home treatment states to avoid repetitive tasks or work. The end result is I may need surgery to resolve the issue, which would put me out of work for many months. I cannot believe this is happening.

@Have Hope

You’re doing so incredibly well!
I’m so glad you are rising to this challenge and are looking to develop your skills further. You’re totally right, you do have valuable experience that others maybe don’t have, and they have other experience that maybe you don’t have!
Please be kind to yourself and don’t forget your worth!

I’m so sorry you’re still experiencing the tingling. Hopefully your insurance will be valid soon so you can see a doc. There is a lot that you can try before surgery but it just takes time and patience. Maybe even some physio would help.
Just see what your doc says!
I hope you continue to do well and work hard! Sending lots of hugs

Don’t worry about surgery before you even talk to a doctor. Surgeries are the last resorts and there might be other things one can do. Just wait until you can see a doctor and try not to worry

This is just one example of the tutorials they have on YouTube but they are everywhere. As far as your tingling goes even if jts something like carpal tunnel you’ll be referred to a neurologist for an emd test and if they have to do surgery it’s so easy and recovery time is only 6 weeks. I had both hands done at once.

Thank you so much for your encouragement!

Yes, it's very good to remind myself of my skills! I need to be kinder to myself, so thank you for the reminder.

I had read that this condition can become worse and more permanent if not treated, which is my concern.

Thanks, divine.

I can do physical therapy, but still, I need my insurance to kick in. It's hard not to worry when I read things telling me this can become worse and permanent if not treated.

Thanks @sarahsweets!

That's reassuring that's it's only six weeks, but still - six weeks out of work within a new position? YIKES.

Well, good news! I received very positive accolades from my senior colleague on work that he had asked me to do for him. He said that it was exactly what he was looking for! SO, I am very proud of myself for meeting his standards and for being able to do the job well! YAY!

So, I had a candid conversation with my boss yesterday about the challenges I'm facing. I really don't think I am up for this job, and I don't know what to do. I cannot quit, and I cannot return to my other last job for obvious reasons. The only avenue I see is if they choose to let me go, then I can collect unemployment. I am in over my head. I am also starting to hear voices again, and it's very disruptive to my work. I have been unable to work as a result. The other day, I had to call in sick for half the day because of it. I am at a loss here.

What did your boss say to that?

I’d see a pdoc or at least call ASAP to discuss your medication in relation to voices. You don’t want to ignore that. Your insurance should be still valid till the end of the month at least

Yes, I am trying to take care of it.

My boss was reassuring, but I still feel like I cannot do this job up to their standards.

Don’t give up. I am sure everyone feels similar in a new job. Give it a good try and don’t be hard on yourself. All we can do is do our best so give yourself some credit.

Thanks so much.....

I am battling dark voices and it's been very very difficult to focus or even concentrate at work. Hence a sick day yesterday and Wed. Now I am getting behind in my work and I have to try to work over the weekend instead.

I am very concerned for myself at this point.

I thought about going to the hospital and admitting myself, but all they will do there is drug me up and then I have to deal with being on heavy drugs while trying to work upon my return. Then work will be even worse for me. So it won't do me any good to go to the hospital.

The last time this happened, I did 3 exorcisms, which worked. That's the only thing that DOES work with these dark voices is to work with an exorcist. So I have two sessions lined. up, but it's not soon enough. One is Monday night, and the other, early Wed AM.

I am really scared & concerned that I won't be able to pull my weight while working in this condition.

It is not OK... nothing right now is OK.

Ok. I am now in crisis. I need to go to the hospital and be admitted. I told work I will not be able to work.... I did not give any details, but I said I did not know for how long I will be out.

Going to the hospital is right thing to do under the circumstances. Take care of your health. It’s ok to tell work that you are in the hospital. They don’t need to know why. But they’d know not to bug you. Get well soon
