My current job is part time but I'm struggling financially. I'm also afraid to work full time but unsure what to do. Maybe I can get another part time job?
I don't qualify for anything except a bit of rental assistance.

How would I know if I can mentally handle more hours?
I'll ask my counselor as well.

That sounds a good idea to get another part time job, if you could find something to fit in with your current one?

Are you able to pick up overtime in your current job? That way you wouldn’t be committing yourself to permanently having more hours.
Thanks for this!

I work Mon-Fri and the only opportunity for more hours is when someone is sick or goes on vacation.
I could start DoorDashing again after work. Or I also thought of a waitress job on the weekends.
I can't tell if I'm mentally ready though How to Know When I Can Work More Hours

You won’t know until you do. There’s no way to tell. Give it a try. Most of us don’t work because we are mentally or physically ready but because we have to, regardless of our health. Of course some people can’t work many hours but unless you tried, you likely won’t know.
Thanks for this!

I appreciate the input.

My work history is spotty, and I lean towards job hopping. The longest I've stayed at one job is almost 3 years. I struggle with full-time hours and have had issues with making work-friends. I'm on my third job in 5 months. As I said, it's part-time, and I get some rental assistance. This is still tough financially as I can hardly pay my bills or buy food.(I don't qualify for foodstamps)
My recent use of HRT put me in another depressive episode.
I really want to stay put at this newest job and maintain a length of employment I can be proud of.
I think it's important for me to continue to care for my mental health and be kind to myself.

I am grateful for your replies How to Know When I Can Work More Hours

Also, with this being my 3rd job in 5 months and kicking my own butt because of it... I hastily took this job, which is a lower rate of pay, fewer hours, and no sick time.
Now, I'm reflecting on if this was such a good choice or not.
This is one of the easiest jobs I've had. It's very conducive to my mental health, so that's partly why I took it.

But now I wonder if it was such a good idea...
