I think i am proud of myself

I havnt had an alcoholic drink in over 2 days.
This is pretty major for me.
I would usually have around 6 RTDs and a bottle or 2 of wine a night.

I have also avoided using for the past 2 days.

I think i am proud, but its so hard!!
I want to keep it up but its hurting me and i think it is too hard, and i am scared that if i let myself have a couple of drinks i will completely lose it and drink like there is no tomorrow.

But i am proud.

if you can make it two days and be proud and feel like youve acheived something, why not try for another two days and make the feeling last, then when youve done that another two days, take it in small steps and the proud feeling will become more and more increased, if you do have a drink, dont worry, just start again!!

have u considered going to AA? i found it to be so helpful in helping me stay sober. am 20 years sober now. if i could do it, so can you. lollypop is right, just take it a day at a time, a minute at a time. when you crave the alcohol it's because your sugar level has dropped. alcohol is mainly sugar so eat something, especially sweets like orange juice. eating any food also diminishes the cravings. the first 5 days you may get a shaky feeling. just eat and it will pass. 2 days-you're halfway there. we're here for you. you'll never regret stopping. i do encourage you to consider AA cause it's a great support system. they/we are doing what you're trying to do.

Try AA, it's great support for the time you've put together clean and sober. It worked for for me...17 years now.

The others are right! If you try AA, you'll find others just like YOU. AA saved my life ~ I would be dead right now if it wasn't for AA. I drank heavily, and every night for over 20 years - until I called AA and thank God someone answered the phone. They talked to me, and I met someone the next night to go to a meeting with ~ that was July 29, 1993, and I haven't had a drink since.

I didn't take it a day at a time, like a lot of people do. I took things a MINUTE at a time, cause a whole day was too much for me. Pretty soon those minutes added up to a whole day.

Give AA a call. You'll be surprised at how things go. God bless and take care. Hugs, Lee

Well done on stopping - the first few days of not using / drinking can be really hard. I'm another one who would recommend AA. I've been in and out of AA since 05, I've kept relapsing but I keep going back to AA and they're always happy to see me and welcome me back. It'll be 4 months sober for me on Nov. 6.

You should be proud. Take it moment by moment, day by day. If you fall, pick yourself back up and try again.

But we all had help & support, in my case from AA and from my treatment team at my rehab. It is possible, but it's really hard to do on your own. In my first week sober I was literally taking it one minute at a time. Now for me sometimes it's one day at a time. Other days it's one hour at a time.

Hang in there.

is there an age limit to go to AA meetings?
i am worried that if i go, people will judge me and think that i dont have a problem, that i am just someone young who overdrinks 'because i can' ?

Members are sure to take your words at face value because they believe in keeping their lives simple !!!

And all drank because we thought we could, young or not so young.

There are lots of young people in AA. In some cities that are big enough, there are special young people's meetings. And every year there's a big conference of young people in AA that sounds really fun from what I've heard. The only requirement for membership in AA is a desire to stop drinking. Doesn't matter what age you are.

Good for you! I'm not very experienced with alcohol, but I know it's addictive. Good luck ^^
