WCT74, what happened? What made you give up? I'm so sorry--sounds like life became too much to face. I hope you will gather support and gain strength to survive this without giving in.
![]() glok, you seem nuts in a good way. Reality is, after all, reality. My docs say I'll need assisted living in a couple years at the most, and if I pick up my addictions again I'll be dead within months. I trust their prognoses about as much as I do weather forecasts. We each will die when we die ... and right to the end we choose how long to prolong the fight. I don't think there are any wrong answers. Best wishes to you in finding whatever strength you need to do what you choose. ![]() roads ![]()

I don't know, that little voice just said, have and I will leave you alone. So I did and than it became more. So I guess I have to start over

Oh, well ... WCT7, now you've learned that they all lie equally--the first one, and every one. So take a deep breath and take it hour by hour. Maybe make a big note to frame:
NO, I CANNOT HAVE JUST ONE! I drank to forget the pain of life, and the last 23 years sober have been full of hurt and failure--but since I was sober I was always able to get the help I needed to cope with it all. I'm sending great big wishes that you'll find your way back to sobriety. ![]() roads

It does lie, or can be "rationalized" or " justified" kinda crazy how influential it can be

Yikes, glok! Doesn't sound good. I'm sorry you've got so many bad things going on. I know it's trite, but look for whatever is worth having/doing today. That may be all any of us has. Addictions take out a lot of us, but I hang on and doggy-paddle when I can't manage anything else. Take a deep breath and keep breathing. Get some blips going. ![]() roads ![]()

Paraphrased from "Permanent Midnight" by Jerry Stahl (Memoir about heroin addiction)
When we get sober we are at the weakest point in our lives. It is that point we must be our strongest. Can I Get An AMEN???!!!

Thanks, gma. I go hour to hour, or event to event. You're so right--we have to remember that we do have options. And resources. I know so many now who are just hanging on ... but we are all actively struggling, not succumbing.
There's fight in us still. We're fighting for life and sanity. Take care of you, and thanks for the reminder. ![]() roads
