I believe from what I read on amphetamine addiction on various MH sites. Searched the topic in PC forums but didn't find anything.
At any rate read AA symptoms include irritability mood swings, sudden rage. That describes my mom perfectly. Through the years from 4 to 14 I suffered from her amphetamine abuse addiction. This fact is a psychologist thinks is a major reason my PTSD . My mother was prescribed diet pills for weidhtloss. These pills were later I found out were amphetamines. BTW In the 60s Uppers were Rxd for depression. Doctors don't necessarily know best.
Can members relate to Amphetamine addiction contributing to their PTSD?

I think my C-PTSD contributed to my amphetamine use.

It sounds like his mother's amphetamine abuse contributed to his PTSD. I would guess that her behaviors while under the influence could have led to the trauma, especially if you didn't have the insight (and how would a 4 or 14 year old understand) that her behavior was the result of the pills. The movie, "Requiem for a Dream" addresses this in a way, but it is pretty intense and may be triggering.

He didn't take them, his mother did. Seeing my behavior as a strung out parent, I was really something other than a good parent. Gratefully them days are over.

Speeders tend to get impatient, easily mad and annoyed, critical, sleep forever, not feed or take care of kids, .....

Yes I didn't take amphetamines at the time. I was briefly prescribed "Adderall" for adult ADD but since its a controlled drug it was a real hassle to get the med. So much so my then pdoc switched me to Welbutrin but I was allergic so he gave up medicating me. Yes there was no insight of my mom's behavior. BTW I'm female.
Always Changing Speeders tend to get impatient etc. You sure got that right!!!

oh sorry, I do this all the time, I read things too fast and miss things.

I had a friend ages ago who used amephatimenes and had a young child, she was keeping it secret from her partner, but told me as she went to her friend's house to get some more whilst I was with her.

She had an eating disorder and also slight OCD where she felt the need to keep the house completely clean at all times, she had been adopted as a child and had this belief that she will be a bad mother, and she felt she had to be a wonder women with her child, but the child seemed to be quiet screwed up even though he knew he was loved, I felt sorry for her and she ended up having a breakdown, but I expect she bounced back and probably does things a lot differently now, after all this was years ago and she was only in her mid twenties when I met her.

I guess back in the 60's diet pills were made from amephatimenes, so it's not entirely your mother's fault as you said, funny because my friend's child was also showing signs of ADHD - is that the same for ADD?

That's okay hon, I do it too. ADHD/ADD are attention deficit disorders. The "H" in ADHD stands for hyper. It takes the same meds to treat each, pharmaceutical amephatimines. Imagine that.

did your mum have ADHD aswell, perhaps it wasn't due to her amephatimine use, even though I argue against genetics and mental health, I think we do share similar traits as our parents.
