I'm sorry to hear that but I'd like to understand that you're worried that *trouble* entails that there's been some problem other than pain relife in the past correct?

I'm not too familiar with Gravol but Codeine very much so, what's the pain due to? Are they pills or liquid?

If you have a problem with this course of medication there maybe something your MD can change you up with that is more contrallable dose wise so it's harder to take more than needed....though if there is a will there will be a way Well guys....

All I can say is try to stick with taking exactly as prescribed. You have a legitimate pain problem, so you have a reason for the meds. But do not take a higher dose or them more often then prescribed.

Could you talk to your Dr. about maybe writing smaller scripts but with more repeats on them, so that you'd only be picking up a few days supply at a time. I know that's a pain and means more money in dispensing fees, but I know some Dr.'s will do it for people with past addiction issues and it provides an external check since the pharmacy won't refil the prescription until, the number of days prescribed is used. (Or at least my pharmacy won't)

Good luck.

It is tough when we have to take meds because of a medical reason. I know I struggle to take meds as I am suppose to--especially pain meds. I try to take them like prescribed and I have to remember to keep an eye on my urge to manipulate the doctor for more. Sometimes my brain tries to convince me that I need more than I really do. Be careful....keep an eye on your addiction but take what you need.

A Canadian version of Dramamine perhaps?

Ok thanks, I was wondering because I'm pretty well versed on at least the American names both commercial, medical and pharma.

Thanks guys.

I am definetly taking too many of them.. Im up to 16 Tylenol 1's a day.. which might not sound like alot but its ALOT of tylenol.. this started from four tylenol 1's a day and slowly escalated.

The gravol I just realized it made me mellow and took the edge off everything.

Luckily I am pumping milk for the baby in the afternoon for the night, so hes not getting any of the meds but..

Yesterday I had a dull ache right where my liver would be and I got kind of worried the tylenol might be hurting my liver.

Today I did take the tylenol 1's.. but instead of sixteen I took fourteen. Im going to try and cut down by two a day until I am down to the max of eight I was told to take.

The doc really doesnt want to give me anything stronger because Im breastfeeding.. but that might be a blessing in disguise. At the same time, Im wondering if im developing an addiction, a tolerance, or if i really just do need something stronger. you know?

Wow, that is a huge amount of Acetaminophen which really is pretty horrible for your liver, and I'm certainly hoping you're not drinking any alcohol(ETOH) in addition.

I really don't want to be a harpy but that is just a huge amount of that drug. As a former heavy drinker I'm just really frightened to take almost any amount (this is not to say I never take any) of Tylenol just because of it's negative liver impact if taken too frequently or in high doses.

I'd suggest you talk to your GP about this pronto and find an alternative ASAP.

Good luck.

Stiv, your absolutely right. Though it was the GP who told me to take the tylenol 1's everyday (but to a max of eight a day not the double that ive been taking)..

And no, I am not drinking at all.

But your absolutely right on the liver problems and thats whats scaring me. There just has to be a better alternative, that I can get in weekly scripts and be monitored so i have effective pain control withoutbecoming tolerant or addicted.

Rainbow as counter intuative as it may seem to people OTC analgesics, Aspirin, Aceto/Tylenol, Ibruprophen/Motrin are very toxic drugs and due to this lack of awareness tend to take far more of them than is healthy.

I read recently that Aceto was number 4 (or close to that) on the list of drugs that were responsible for drug induced deaths

I don't really have the time and the info is not on this PC, but if you do not believe me *Google* it up and see Well guys....

doing much much better now guys!

I am back to taking it only when I absolutely have to, and only what the doctor told me.

I still am not sure whether I was taking more because I was developing addiction to it or whether I really was having more pain than normal - but I feel much safer doing things this way.

Of course, today I had to be taken to the hospital after passing out, and my sugar is out of whack, so I might be diabetic.. lol, it never rains but it pours huh?
