so, I've lost alot of weight cause I've been sick alot. I can't eat because either my stomach hurts so I'm not hungry, or I'm about to throw up so I can't stomach anything. other times I literally forget to eat cause I'm not hungry. but my GI specialist wants a consult cause she thinks I'm anorexic. my therapist and my GP and my parents don't think I have one. Idk.
I'll admit I was happy the first time I lost a few pounds But when it dropped to like me losing a few more pounds I realized how thin I was. I am really self concious of my stomach. I feel like its never flat enough. That started in 6th grade. back then I actually did consider cutting out snacks but Idk if I did. I actually was scared people would think I was pregnant cause my stomach was so big, at least I thought. but people seem to think I have a flat stomach. I am scared of getting "Fat" or gaining too much weight. But I don't conciously diet or exercise to lose weight. I'm always looking in the mirror and tightening my shirt to see my figure. this morning I accidentally put on my sister's jeans (she does not weigh much). they fell off! ![]() So Idk. For awhile I was scared I was anorexic. but I thought to be anorexic you have to actually diet. and when I'm hungry, I eat! Chocolate, and everything! So, what do you think? awesomeness05, Have you tried making smoothies in a blender? You can use yogurt or ice cream and add fruits and veggies. You will get protein, vitamins & minerals. The taste is delicious!

the psychologist told me I have "disordered eating" but not an eating disorder...what is disordered eating exactly? i don't normally purposefully restrict...I'm just "busy" or get nauseous. a few times I've restricted or thought twice about eating but don't have regular intentional, or at least conscious, restrictive habits. I'm starting to wonder if I'm nauseous partly because I'm worried about gaining "too much" weight. but I make myself eat. I'm able to most of the time. So I don't think I have an eating disorder because people with eating disorders can't "make themselves" eat, right?

Hi sweetie. It's possible you could have body dysmorphic disorder which is when we look at ourselves and we look more overweight than we actually are. Or we have "problem areas" which aren't really a problem (like you said you think your stomach is big but everyone else says it's flat). Millions of women have this disorder (and is it any wonder with what the media feeds us?). Mention it to your therapist and see what they have to say. BDD can sometimes lead to anorexia so there's a very real worry there. Let us know how it goes.

I grew up with a mother & grandmother who were constantly trying new diets & yet they never lost weight & I always thought geeze.....get married & just let yourself go....but they weren't obese just a bit overweight looking back at it.....but I promised myself that I would never let that happen to me....I would always be in control of my eating & if I wanted to enjoy something disgustingly good & fattening, I would just do without something afterwards to make up for it.
When pregnant with my daughter I made sure I exercised & didn't gain any more than the minimum amount of weight or a little less & was determined to be back in my normal cloths right after she was born.....successful at that. Only problem when you have the lowest healthiest weight....if any thing does come up that causes problems....illness, major stress......that weight goes in an instant & then the trouble begins. Disordered eating is definitely eating that is NOT NORMAL.....but doesn't fall under the category of an ED.....total restricting......binging & purging....the like....so I think your T was right on with the DX.......but you can still have body image issues in a small way that plays into the picture. The body & mind are so complicated when they come together.....sometimes it just takes time to sort through it all & then the picture becomes clearer the more past you have to look back on.
