Can prolonged stress and anxiety cause a mildly stiff neck and/or tingling/pricking sensation down your upper back/neck?. It's not severe or anything but I was just wondering. It's more like I get little aches on the side of my neck or it feels a bit stiff if I move my head around. My eyes are also watering/dry off and on. Anyone else ever get this?

Yup! been there! The stress and anxiety can do wonders on your body. Have you seen the anxiety and phobia workbook? There is a section on relaxation that talks about doing muscle stressing for relaxation.
Works well.

Thank you for helping me to not feel all alone in this:-). We had some "neighbors from hell" who lived next door to us a few years ago and I would'nt even wish this on them!!. Hey, I was looking at your AV...do you fish a lot?. There's nothing like some fresh catfish chunks rolled in egg and cracker crumbs and broiled over an open campfire...er...I'm dreaming now...lol

I am glad I could help. Yup! I fish quite a bit. I try to get out at least 60-75 times a year. It's been a couple weeks since I have been out, but this weekend I will be out and once it starts staying lighter later I will be too.
This one is from a few weeks ago! Enjoy

Stress/anxiety=stiff neck & prickling?

I tried to pull it through the screen but my monitor is on 9'' x 13''. I'm afraid it will get stuck!!. Got something smaller?...lol. Yup, I used to love fishing, trolling, boating, camping out on the chain-of-islands where we used to live. Sometimes I think maybe I was better off there. It was'nt until I moved off the beach and then away from lake-side living that I started getting into my "funks". Just not a whole lot to do if you live inland unless you want to spend your entire life in a strip mall. Thank's for the great pic - I enjoyed it!!:-)

Man in Ocala, you are within an hour of lot's of fishing. Just gota do it! If you don't make yourself go you won't. Heck that fish came from streams that are 2 hours from the house. I leave at 4am and am home by 4pm. I love it! That is my release. That is what makes my sore neck disappear! It is amazing the lactic acid build up you can get from anxiety.

sometimes i can hear my neck "cracking" when i'm really "uptight"....it definitely causes a stiff neck and my scalp also gets extremely tight and causes a weird headache.
