I've been really worried/anxious about going back to college this fall (in 3 weeks) and it feels like my meds arn't working well enough. Is this normal? I guess I'm more concerned because my doc had wished I would go from 50mg Zoloft to 100mg while I was still in school. I chose to stay on 50mg because I just wanted something to help me be able to function normally (OCD had gotten way out of control during school). Do you think my doctor knew that 50mg may not be enough if I was experiencing high stress situations? Once I go back to school and don't have all these added irrational fears will I feel back to normal at 50mg?

It's hard to say.. sometimes higher doses are needed to make things better. I would say at least give the 100 mg a try. If you don't like it, you can go back down again. I don't think 100 mg would hurt you.. you'd still be able to function normally, but with less anxiety.

If an added dose HELPS you mellow out and you can function well on it.....why would you want to change it to the lower one once you feel okay???? That's like feeling better so I will quit my meds cause I'm okay now. With Zoloft, as any med, it's not safe to self medicate. You can ask for more problems than it's worth. Ask your pdoc, or pharmacist for assistance. They can help you with your decisions.
