I was doing really well for a while there (about two weeks) near normal and then all of sudden I am worse now
I don't understand what happened i don't know how to rid myself of this impending doom, deep depression about aging and fear of dying *sigh* ![]() actually I am on risperidal and it made a HUGE difference. I am EXTREMELY sensitive to meds. I was on 1 mg before bedtime but it was making me too groggy, out of it, drunk feeling, extremely sleepy etc so I went on .5 mg before bedtime but that was also causing too much sleepiness and weird feelings so I went down to a 1/4, I still felt that way but stayed on 1/4 for 3 days and then just last night I took half of the 1/4 and had a terrible day today. Do you think I may have plummeted because I decreased the dose of risperidal to such a low amount? I will take the 1/4 again. Last edited by feary; May 25, 2010 at 03:05 PM. |

What does the risperidal treat, is it an antidepressant? You have to be careful with messing around with your dosage by yourself, a doctor should ideally be the one suggesting you decrease or increase a dose. I wouldn't be surprised if your recent mood drop is related to you changing your med dosage.
You said yourself the risperidal made a HUGE difference so it's probably in your best interest to stick with it at the recommended dose. You could ask your doc about the side effects and decide if you're willing to put up with them for the positive effects you do get. It's a shame your mood has become low again, I've very sorry to hear that, but try to hold on to that positive feeling, you know now you are positive of feeling "normal" and I'm sure that will return to you! |

You really need to discuss your medication with your doctor. It isn't good to adjust the dosage yourself.

Hi feary. First I have to agree with the others that you should take your meds as prescribed, and not change the doseage without your doctor's instructions.
I also want to say that this may not be related to the meds. In my own experience, anxiety and depression tend to ebb and flow. You might want to think about what was going on while you were feeling better? Were you talking to certain people? Doing particular activities? Eating certain foods? Visiting certain locations? Just like you can discover triggers that make you feel worse, you can also discover things that make you feel better! If you can think about the circumstances surrounding the past two weeks when you were feeling pretty good, it might help you work towards getting that feeling back. I'm glad you shared this with us, I hope you are feeling better soon! |
