Anxiety is up today and I pace. My "frozen shoulder" did not respond to physical therapy so next week its off to an orthopedic surgeon who will knock me out and twist it into shape and stick a pin in it. The PT therapist gave me quite the visual as to what would be done.
So I could not sleep last night. Can't move arm and am agitated. Scared to be operated on. Do not like the whole idea (who does). Just unsettled. Meds---xanax--not working. Anyone been through this? What happens? Is it a short rehab??????? ![]() |

I posted about this problem in the health section - I have it too - this is my 2nd time with the same shoulder. I've never been in so much pain before. I think you should try cortisone shots first before the surgery. Surgery should be a last resort. I had 3 shots lat month and I'm about 70 % better. The 1st time the cortisone took it away completely. I would be interested if anyone has had this done in case I need it - hope I won't. Please try the cortisone first ((Hippie))

Have you been to the ortho before? I would think they'd try a few other things first, like the shots?

I, too, have nothing in the way of experience to offer in this area except best wishes for a quick resolution to your shoulder pain. I would explore all options before surgery, although surgery could be just the solution. My husband had rotor cuff surgery by an ortho surgeon on his shoulder over 4 years ago with no recurrence. It was all done out patient so he was home the same afternoon. Thinking of you and hoping for the very best outcome.

PT therapist did not mention cortisone but maybe she was giving me the worst case scenerio. I hope so. If surgery is required then glad to know it could at least be done as an outpatient procedure so I would not have to be admitted.
Still hyper over it. Think t's a case of just not knowing what to expect. But thank you friends for your input. |

If I were you Hippie I'd give that physical therapist a wide berth...the GP will usually always try shots before sending you to a surgeon...Unless you are completely frozen and cannot move at all..in that case I am unsure as to whether the choice action is shots or surgery...Good luck with it and let us know how you go....

I have a frozen shoulder and can empathise with the pain. I was fine till I got knocked out with drugs following burnout from work. Physios here in the UK can't do anything.
I have aromatherapy and back massage every week. My back muscles are very rigid and stuck now. Before I would consider surgery I want to try everything else possible. I am going for acupuncture next. Crystal healing and shaman healing Sounds off the wall but An old remedy is to iron a cabbage leaf (so that it is bruised) and use as a poultice, it does in fact ease the pain! This may sound crazy but I went on a horse this week and I loved it....helped me greatly. Probably because I rode a lot as a child...I needed to feel less disabled.. Maybe doing something you used to do and enjoy will distract the pain... It does for me? Take care Lotsa love |
