I used to get Nausea before parties, etc. and I've always assumed it was anxiety/nerves.

Then it started happening when I was eating out, but I got over it to a degree.

Now it is starting to be most constant, and is making it extremely difficult to eat. My family is concerned and so am I. I don't want to stop eating just because of this nausea I'm getting from anxiety. When I try to eat I end up eating very little, and when I can manage to eat a bit more, I feel like I'm going to throw up (and once did) and feel weak.

I intend on seeing a specialist. But until then I need a more immediate way of coping with the nausea so I can eat! The nausea has been appearing randomly as well, but eating and the thought of eating seems to be a main trigger.

I've never been officially diagnosed with anxiety, but I'm 99.99% certain that's what is causing it.

Please help!

Are you drinking okay? It is more important that you keep yourself hydrated than going a few days without food? If you like milk or orange juice you can get some nutrients as well as hydration.

I have been drinking. However, I don't know how to get myself eating right again with this constant nausea.

It is good that you plan to see a specialist who can give you insight to the root of the problem. Is it a panic attack? Do you have this problem at certain places/ restaurants more than others?

Since the nausea is psychological, by not eating anything you are basically telling yourself that it is ok not to eat. I have often gotten nauseated just by thinking of leaving the house to go to a restaurant and often force myself to eat something so it doesn't get worse.

Some short term things you can do is 1. practice meditation/breathing in a comfortable place in your room so then you can apply what you have learned in an uncomfortable setting. 2. Another idea is to slow down so you do not get anxious. Try eating a couple bites and putting the utensil down for a few minutes and tell yourself that you will be ok. Then when you feel ready, try to take a few more bites. This can positively reinforce that eating is not a negative behavior if you don't let it. 3. Try eating light foods that will be easier to eat like fruit or salad. Eating a big meal can make it harder to cope.

Hope this helps

I have the same problem if I think about eating I feel sick yet I feel sick if I dont eat. I now force myself to eat porriage before going to work it makes me feel nauseus but I have to eat I was only able to keep down a few spoonfuls of yogurt each morning but now i am trying to eat as it make me feel more ill if I dont. I dont have that gnawing feeling in the pit of my stomach so long as I eat something. Its bad enough dealing with depression much less all the other stuff that comes with it. I drink a lot of water but nothing seems to settle my stomach.

Thank you for your suggestions, I will definitely try some of these techniques.

There doesn't seem to be any obvious trigger aside from eating, the smell of food, and the thought of eating (to a degree I think it may be me getting anxious about potentially feeling sick from eating - a self-fulfilling prophecy of sorts). Though at times I will get the nausea regardless - this doesn't bother me as much though, as I can still continue with most of the things I'd normally do. It's the difficulty eating which has really made this nausea a concern for me.

It's good that you're keep up with it Lilleth, I know exactly where you're coming from. In the morning I tend to feel more sick than usual and it's difficult seeming it's the most important meal of the day. I feel too sick to eat in the morning yet I'll end up feeling a lot worse if I don't. I know it'll be worth the effort though. I'm glad you're making progress!

I used to get sick all the time for years and years and yeears atleast 4 times a month and no doctors could actually figure it out (most likely anxiety from childhood crapp).. It's sounds like a psychological thing and i really hope you work through that.. but as far as the nausea now, I always found Sprite or 7 Up to be particularly helpful for the sick feeling before and after..or Ginger tea
