Seriously, it makes me so nervous.
I can't sleep at all the night before. I feel like throwing up as soon as I step inside. I can't breathe and I get shaky and pale.
Is this some kind of social anxiety? Cause it doesn't get this bad when I go out to other places.
I mean I get nervous when Im around people in general, but it's more intense in school.
It gets so bad that I miss weeks at a time because I can't make myself go.
What should I do?

Yeah, I know the feeling. You feel like you'd rather do anything else than go to school. I suggest talking to someone or writing about this. Not to sound like a total freak, but when I get really scared, I talk to my cat - for some reason, that really helps me calm down. You could also try writing down all your feelings with soap on your mirror. Read what you've written, then wash it away and feel all the anxiety leave you.

Avoiding anxiety provoking situations just makes them worse, so for one, stop avoiding.

Mindfulness Meditation might be worth looking into.

Hello, MelMel15. Were you by chance bullied at school? If not, can you think of school-related traumatic events?

Is professional help an option for you?

Gentle hugs to you MelMel15.

I wish that I could make those horrible feelings go away for you. Just wanted you to know that I've been there. I can relate to the intense emotions and avoiding school (at all costs) to avoid the misery. It is horrible

Have you talked with your family or doctors about the intense fear that follows school? School counselors can be helpful. They do have small group programs, with a short list of other people like you (struggling), to help gain a better understanding and acceptance of emotions. It can be helpful, especially with understanding how your brain works. For me, looking at my brain scientifically helps balance the emotions better.

Gentle hugs to you...

I'm sorry you're so scared of school right now. I've felt that way before, too, but I never had to miss weeks at a time. That must be really hard.

Is there something particular you think of when you feel scared? Having to do assignments and answer questions? Or talking to other students?

I see it's been a while since you posted. Have things gotten better?

unr3achable1tch, good luck next week!
Thanks for this!

In particular, I'm pretty terrified of the other students. I'm a bit of a paranoid person, so I always assume I know what they are thinking of me. And it's always negative.

Thanks for the support everyone.

Oh, that's a tough one. I have that problem, too. It's especially bad if someone's whispering. Then I think I'm being talked about. It's awful.

It's good that you realize that your paranoid feelings are involved instead of just accepting those thoughts as true. That's a big step! Since you've had to miss so much school before, those feelings must be very strong. You are brave to keep fighting them.

For me, it is a form of social anxiety; I'm afraid that people are judging me and criticizing me. I've read a few really good books about it that help; therapy helps even more, but it's hard to go.

I'm glad you were here to share this! It definitely helps to hear from other people who go through similar problems.
