Hi there my friends (hope I can use that, even though we just met) -

First to EVERYONE: THANK YOU!!!

This is cool, as one put it, to be able to just 'be me' on here... it truly does relieve quite a bit - and i've already started feeling much better than I have... Just impatient is all - i want to be better NOW!!!

As an FYI to all, I've been put on Reperidone and Seroquel this 'round'... We'll see how this goes as well as how I'll react to this trial/error regimen.

I know someone posted (I DO APOLOGIZE FOR NOT REMEMBERING - SO MANY HAVE RESPONDED!!!) info about State Mental Health Assistance, which I looked into, and so far on Indiana's gov site (www.in.gov), I'm not having too much success other than finding assitance for (emphasis) FAMILIES.. Since I do not have a dependent, it appears I've hit yet anoter road block... Plus, another downfall, is that bcuz I 'technically' am insured, I wouldn't qualify for squat, even though benefits have been exhausted.. Big shocker...

And I did confirm, with my insurance, that I've over-used my yearly allotment on the mental health side... I was told, after I went to pay my co-pay, that this visit and subsequent visits will not be covered. Since I saw the actual psychiatrist, this means a $180 bill... The therapists are $120... I also have to PRE-PAY from now on before I can be seen.... This is a shame that they will RX you something, tell you follow-ups are necessary (which I DO agree with), and then expect you to pay the full fee up-front!!

...And then I/We wonder why things don't get better? Now I've got to worry about climbing my money tree out back before each visit... GREAT!!! I think that tree has been 'trimmed' as much as it can be for the rest of its life...

Thank you for all your prayers and continued support. I intend to look over other posts today and try to give a few words to another friend. It's only fair - I don't want to abuse the priviledges of the forums by only concentrating on me... I look forward to talking soon and hugs to everyone Update from Yesterday's DR. Visit Niko

Niko,

I'm so glad that you're doing some better!

Please contact your local community mental health center. they charge according to income. It won't matter to them whether you have insurance or not.

Social Services would know the number and name of your area center. I have insurance, etc, and thats where I go.

Niko -

I think Davey Jones suggested researching to see where the nearest NAMI is. It is a national organization for mental health. Maybe they can do something to help. Seroquel helped manage my adopted daughter's bipolar quite well.

Glad you feel comfortable here, and we can help!!!

Thank you Kimmy - I forgot that DaveyJ wrote abut the Mental Health Agencies; You all post SO MUCH (Good thing!!) that I forgot about his post... Sorry about that!!

On another positive note, my P-Doc authorized my Short-Term DB pending further evaluation. I got that back today - so at least I can rest easy - or at least try to - knowing that I'll have 'some' money coming in!! Of course, it is also not automatic and subject to their approval... However, I shall NOT dwell on that - i've got more to worry/stress over!!

I want to know if we do some sort of 'personal live chat' stuff, i.e. specific things in a live chat. I noticed there are set schedules, but everytime I go into the live chat no one is there. Is this just how it is or can we do our own? Just curious is all.. I'm still in a semi-manic state and WAYY to talkative; I really don't want to annoy ya'll via the forums Update from Yesterday's DR. Visit

As always, you're all great and I sincerely appreciate it. I'll get to work on the Mental Health side from the State in the meantime. Talk to you soon,
Niko

Niko,

I didn't read your post before I answed your PM...you might go by a NAMI chapter and see if they don't have a directory of mental health resources...I know that we do, and it is really quite good. I've even seen it in other agency's offices (on top of the stack, even)! Also, be persistent with the agencies...again, the squeaky wheel gets oiled first! And don't forget DBSA--we don't have a chapter here, but I understand they are quite good, and oriented towards bipolar and depression.

Good luck,
DJ

THanks again DJ - Where there is a will, there is a way... I actually talked to my Aunt, who is on Medicaid, and she spoke w/her social worker about me. Come to find out, I qualify for that IF my insurance caps and/or is no longer effective. This could take about a month, if that, but she stated that you get a 'pending coverage' letter that will allow me to go and get the care that I need.

At least this is a POSITIVE step in the right direction!! I also found a few local counselors through some churches (well, the churches sponsor the programs I should say - kind of like AA), the counselors are certified, and they are open to people in situations like mine. Getting SOME help is better than none at all - that's for sure...

Thank you yet again for taking the time to help me. What you and the rest of 'the gang' have done is priceless Update from Yesterday's DR. Visit
