Hi

This could probably be posted under PTSD or abusive relationships, but right now I am feeling ANXIOUS...

So I am putting it here!

I was a crime victim - someone I was involved with very briefly stole a lot of money from my family, was verbally abusive, and threatened me to a point that I could not testify in order to put him in prison. I was the tenth woman he has done this too...

That was 2 years ago. I was diagnosed with PTSD and had to leave graduate school...where I was, IRONICALLY...

In school to be a therapist....

I am fine now...I have started dating my boyfriend who I was with in college - I have known him for 7 years.

But he is now talking seriously about getting married...

AND I AM FREAKING OUT !!!

((((Yack)))) sorry for what you went thru.
Now, if you don't mind me asking, Why do you want to get married? How long have you been together now as a seriuios relantionship?
One thing I know for sure, don't force something that if made you might regret in the future.
PM me anytime if you need to vent.
~hugs~

Hello...

Were were together for 4 years while I was an undergrad...apart completely for 2 years (but still friends), now dating again for a while...

We do not think it has been long enough, and that's why he has said he wants to wait a year or so before we get engaged.

It's just become complicated because we were talking about it so much we felt we had to tell our parents...(because our friends know)..

We are both living at home because I am still a student and he is saving money...so there is a finanical issue also.

Hi Yack,

It is totally understandable that you would be anxious after everything you've been through.

There was a Law and Order on Friday night, which was about someone who had been commiting the same type of crime over and over again for years, and had been able to get away with it. His crime humiliated young girls, and made their parents suffer. He finally got his just due on this episode.

Anyway.

Wishing you all the best,

EJ

Hi Jane,

Wow. Law and Order has some interesting stuff on it...

I know this is all probably normal anxiety...getting engaged is scary enough without what I went through!
