Feeling anxious to the point of panicky. I really thought I was making progress by overcoming my anxious thoughts and feelings about going back to work, reconnecting with old friends, and some family members. I was on Facebook a couple of days ago to reconnect and say hello to everyone. It's been over a year since I was online. It was nice getting the response but when others start to ask questions, or they are interested in meeting up... I get so overwhelmed and sick to my stomach I want to leave them in their tracks and disappear.

I really don't want to feel like this. I want to be able to respond back and accept anykind of invitation to see everyone again. I am "so tired" of being stuck in this shell and not allowing myself to have fun. I'm tired of feeling anxious or panicky over small stuff!

at myself for allowing these feelings to take over and control my life. Anxiety is the dictator of my life!

I'm sorry you feel anxiety controls you Are you in any type of therapy? Maybe you could take baby steps, see only people you are more comfortable for just coffee, then work your way up to something like dinner or a night out?

Any type of therapy?

Just doing a self help workbook at home for PTSD. I do have another self help workbook for anxieties which I'll be working on once I finish the first workbook. The therapy is Mind-Body Bridging practice with helpful tools and you end with mindfulness meditation. It's all good, but all a work in progress.

Take baby steps and see only people I'm comfortable with...

I have thought about that.

Thank you for your reply and advice!

Wow Soul Flower, I must say you have beautifully summed up my situation as well. I feel as if I'm getting better and then all of the sudden you feel these old feelings come up and you're back at the start again. I have to admit that my resolve wavers too, but I think what is important is a forward motion. Whether it is an inch or a mile I think any movement toward your goal is a step in the right direction. How to manage these feelings is something I haven't been able to come up with though.
Thanks for this!
