ANXIETY SUPPORT NEWSLETTER
Topic this week: Slow and Easy Have you ever noticed that when you walk, talk, etc., you do it faster than do a lot of other people? I was like that. I couldn't just walk across the yard, or through the house in a slow and easy way. I noticed I did things quickly. Most people with anxiety issues seem to do the same thing. I believe it's because we have so much excess energy from the anxiety. Anyway... I read somewhere that those with anxiety disorders really need to slow things down. I began walking slower, talking slower, and doing everything else slower as well. I noticed, after some time had passed, that I didn't feel as anxious or stressed. Then I decided to begin focusing on whatever I was doing. I began to put all of my focus on the present/now. If I was cooking dinner I focused on each thing I was doing at that moment. If I was walking, talking, or even showering, I would focus on only that. What a refreshing change from having my mind/thoughts being so scattered and my mind racing all the time. It is truly relaxing. If we're focusing on only what we are doing, at that moment in time, we cannot focus on all the negative thoughts that pass through our mind. Thoughts will pass through, but I allow them to pass, gently, and continue focusing on what I'm doing at that moment. I'm telling you, it works. After a while you will notice something different going on. That 'something different' is that you are beginning to feel more relaxed and centered. Enjoy that feeling. Start practicing doing things slow and easy. It will take some time to get into the habit of doing it, but it will come second nature to you, in time. It's really amazing how something so simple can make us feel so much better and so much more centered and balanced. Say "Good-bye" to anxiety and "Hello" to relaxed and centered. GOAL FOR THE WEEK Practice doing everything slower. TIPS FOR THE WEEK Make come notes and stick them or place them around the house and at work, reminding you to do things slower. Keep saying to yourself "Slow and easy does it." INSPIRATION Their are faster creatures than the turtle, but the turtle enjoyed the journey. ~~Sue Hulen~~ (Anxiety Support Newsletter) A man cannot be comfortable without his own approval. ~~Mark Twain That which is injurious loses it's capacity to harm when it is brought into the light, and we attract to us that which we emanate. ~~Dr. Hawkins~~ Why is everyone here so happy except me? "Because they have learned to see goodness and beauty everywhere," said the Master. Why don't I see goodness and beauty everywhere? "Because you cannot see outside of you what you fail to see inside." ~~Anthony de Mello~~ (from his One Minute Wisdom) AFFIRMATIONS I see beauty in everyone and everything. Slower is better. I focus on only the positive. I may be wounded, but refuse to be broken. I am light and love. I can do anything I choose to do. I am worthy. Until next week I wish for you the ability to see beauty in everyone and everything. Take it slow and easy and enjoy the wonderful feeling it will provide. Enjoy the smell of the freshly mowed lawns, and take a good look at the blue sky and the beautiful clouds. ((((((((Sundance))))))))))) this is just what I needed to read this week. Thanks for sharing........I agree that if we slow down, peace is around the corner.
This has been a out of control week and my anxiety has hit an all time high do to my schedule at work being so goofy, lots of hours, distracitons really going way too fast for this body. Tuesday I ended up at the ER with palpitations , though after waiting for almost 2 hours in the waiting area, the palps stopped, I quit shaking, etc. I could tell it probably was anxiety and not my heart. Anyway the triage nurse checked my vitals and sent me home I never did see a doctor. I had slowed down while sitting there....! Hmmm now this all makes sense. My schedule will stay this way until mid June and then it will be better. Wednesday the palps returned but I tried not to worry and it went away with a little help with my meds. Sundance we all appreciate you taking the time to share what you have learned, it makes a big difference to focus on the positive part of anxiety and that their is hope even when we feel like we have hit rock bottom...You are an angel !!!!!!!Today I will hold your thoughts in my mind and stop every once awhile to feel and not race through the day. I have a very hectic day right now I am transitioning from one job to another and will be speaking in front of a large crowd this evening. I will remember to speak slow and enjoy the moment. Bless you, angel |

I can almost guarentee you it was anxiety, everyone thinks who suffer from anxiety that they will die of a heart attack and so forth. Do you know any breathing tecniques, those will help, it's called 'abdominal breathing' and alot of doctors will tell you to do with with anxiety or panic attacks. It helps me. Plus postive self talk, that is key when in the middle of something like that. I posted the website where I get that montly newsletter. Her newsletters are very inpsirational. {{{Angel}}} I'm happy that you find what I post helpful , that is what i'm here for to share insight, coping and healing skill. I only post what I know in hopes that it will help others. Take care girlie. <font color=red>~Sundance~</font color=red> <font color=blue>"Never react emotionally to criticism. yep I agree... and the turtle is one of my water signs... I have turtle earrings that I wear in some stressful situations (I found I tend to pull at my earrings then too) so now, when I tug at an earring, and the turtle is there, it helps me remember to go slow and easy, and try to enjoy the journey!

If you've looked at my posts you can see that I'm going through a rough spell with my anxiety. When I read the newsletter, I realized that for a change, I could walk today and I walked faster than I have in years. I also talked my friend's ear off and I talked so fast, that sometimes I'd run words together or run out of breath before I finished the sentence. After all these years, this is the first time I became aware going faster than I can manage! Thanks, {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Sundance!}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}
