I know that I have had anxiety most of my life usually during meals and subtle anxiety all throughout my daily routine that I can mask, but tonight is the worst episode I've ever faced and I don't know what to do. I caught my boyfriend in a lie but he came clean and all was fine... but even when he came clean before I needed to call him out, my heart started beating very fast, I felt very nauseated. I could not stop my legs and feet from moving uncontrollably, I clenched my fists together. I breathed very loudly as if I was gasping for my last breath, my entire body became numb and all I wanted to do was scream because I was terrified of being hurt...This occured for about 30-45 minutes and my boyfriend wanted me to go to the hospital.. I am finally calm now but I'm very afraid that this type of attack will occur soon...It was the worst episode I've had and I'm not sure what to do.

I'm not sure. It's not like mine.

Based on what you described, I would have to say that does sound very much like a panic attack to me. Panic attacks tend to be different per individual and can manifest physically/emotionally in many ways. For instance, I have had several different "types" of panic attacks ranging from the mild shakey-fearful to the full-blown "heart-attack-can't-breathe-think-I'm-gonna-die" kind. Either way, panic attacks can be downright scary at times and one thing to keep in mind no matter what is that they will not harm you even if it feels like they will. Was This A Panic Attack??

It sounds like a normal physical response to the adrenaline boost in your body from the fear of confronting your boyfriend about your suspicions. It involved an unknown--what would happen next.

I think it may or may not happen again, because fearful experiences are a part of life, but I don't think it is likely to happen unless you are faced with a similarly uncomfortable and frightening experience.
