I have already posted about a looming possible health issue. I am waiting final diagnosis.

It is the waiting that has wreaked havoc on me.

I have been fretting and stressing to such a great extent I have been making myself physically ill - syptoms that could also possibly indicate a worsening of my physical health. I got myself so worked up that Thursday I packed my bag for the hospital.

Dear Justafriend,
Sending you lots of good, healing vibes!! Anxiety gets the best of us in these situations.
Try to do calming activities and keep yourself busy if possible. Maybe puzzles or word games will keep the mind busy as well!
Thinking of you with hope and positivity xo
Thanks for this!

I am so, so sorry justafriend. Waiting on medical reports is stressful and anxiety-producing to just about anyone, I think. My loving thoughts are with you

There might be a misunderstanding here. Munchausen Syndrome is when one deliberately commits actions to sabotage their health. This may include poisoning oneself, eating toxic foods, and other actions that require a doctor's intervention. This is a psychological condition regarding attention seeking behaviour.

What I referred to on the otherhand as 'making myself sick' was about getting so worked up and anxious that I cause nausea, stomach aches, and diarreha. This is NOT intentional or attention seeking behavior.

I was hospitalized this weekend for a panic attack. Although the doctors did not agree it was angina or symptoms of a stroke, I believe I still had those symptoms anyway. I was experiencing shoulder, jaw, chest, and neck tightness and pain. My blood pressure was extremely high, even though I take two medications for that reason. They gave me morphine for, I assume, angina pain. This worked except for my neck pain. They also gave me four baby aspirin to alleviate a headache; this also works as a blood thinner. While in the hospital, I underwent a stress test and blood work for changes in my heart. Those two tests were negative. My mother went through many of these episodes (angina), and unless she actually suffered an actual heart attack, nothing would show up on any of these tests either. I believe I am taking after my mother, at least in my physical health. I think I suffered a panic attack with angina. I am sorry that I am going on about my physical (and mental) health here, but I do know now, for sure, that panic and anxiety attacks lead to physical symptoms. I don't mean to scare you here, but I think you may have legitimate concerns. Good luck to you. I hope that everything goes well for you with both your physical and mental health, both now and in the future.

Anxiety makes me very physically ill. I also get terribly exhausted when it's at its peak. I slept for 15 hours yesterday! When it gets overwhelming , a thought I like to keep in my head is " I have all these physical problems, but the one that hurts most is this constant anxiety. I need to reduce it now." and it helps a little.

Good luck

Anxiety makes me very ill, for sure. And I get super exhausted on top of that. I slept for 15 hours yesterday. It really wears me out! During these long days a thought I like to keep in my head is " All these physical ailments hurt, but my anxiety hurts most of all, and i can control this.I need to reduce it now. " It helps me to stay mindful.

Chamomile tea, lavender scented stuff, hot showers, exercise and rest when you need it, they are other favourite strategies of mine. don't let yourself fall down the rabbit hole! . Good Luck. we're all gonna make it

Thanks for asking.

I am in fact doing much better. I am still worried but no longer am I so worked up that I have been ill.

I see the specialist tomorrow for the results of all my testing and a treatment plan. I saw my family doctor though who has been getting his own copies of all the test results. He seems to think that all is okay. The specialist (kidney) may recommend that my psychiatrist change my medications.

I'm going through a break up and lost 4lbs in two days from not eating due to anxiety. I totally get it. My stomach is just a huge knot.

Sorry if I missed something but what is this health problem you're concerned about?

So, the kidneys are okay, but it seems there are other concerns now raised - both directly related to lithium. I've got to get scans of my thyroid and it seems I have a rare type of diabetes 'diabetes insipidus'.

So please everyone on lithium get your blood tested regularly. This was all found very early as I get my tests often

My friends kidneys shut down from lithium toxicity. I also got toxicity and had to stop taking it asap and I had to be on thyroid meds for years. Yes, everyone who's on it, get your levels checked!
