I am feeling really awful tonight. Tonight is just not a good night for me, I am so anxious.
I stared a summer job last week and I am having a really hard time dealing with it tonight. I help run a summer school for developmentally disabled children and at times it can get really stressful. I love my job and I love the kids, but I don't want anything to do with it right now. I am just coming off a period of time where my anxiety had almost total control over me. I was also diagnosed with anorexia that came from my anxiety and desire to control something.
I really feel like I am not ready for this, but I have to do it. I do this every year and if I just dropped out there wouldn't be anyone to do my job. I know I have to stay, but right now I really feel like I can't handel it. I am about ready to scream. I love the kids but part of my anxiety is worrying about getting sick and kids are famous for being sick. I really want to run away and hide right now and i don't know what to do. Kate

HI Kate
I know how you feel..but you are doing the right thing! You are carrying on with your life despite your setbacks. Don't let it control you ..that is something I am coming to grips with. Do whatever made you happy before you had really bad anxiety. That is how to beat it. You are feeling great discomfort because you are comfronting something that doesn't want to go away. Be strong..I know it is the hardest thing to do.You can do it!

I can only imagine how stressful your job must be. It takes a special kind of person to do what you do. Someone with huge amounts of patience, strength, and compassion. Just remember you are a person like that because you ARE doing it.

You need to remember to take care of yourself first. Difficult as if may be, you need to remember you! If this is going to cause you too much distress in your life, then no one will benifit. Take it easy and hang in there and do what you know that you need for you.

I'm so sorry for your distress. Anxiety is so very difficult to contend with. Sometimes, it is helpful to just talk (write) about all your fears. I'm very new, but there seems to be some very good reading and supportive eyes here. I hope things will begin to look better and better for you soon.
