Mayhaps, I'm not posting this in the proper place, but, I would like some insight into the use of antidepressants that you here find effective for anxiety states. I have done various trials in the past without success. The only thing that ever helped me was Klonopin. While effective for the anxiety, I find, over the long haul, depression can be an unwanted finding. I used to think my entire issue was anxiety, but, of late, I feel some depression is certainly a possibility,
Any info, to include suppliments used, would be appreciated. |

I think generally speaking for anxiety and/or depression the SSRI's are the best. They tend to be the most effective with the least amount of side effects. Some of the SSRI's I have personally taken for my anxiety disorder in the past are: Zoloft, Celexa, and currently I am on Lexapro. All three of these meds helped with my anxiety disorder and I have no exprienced any side effects (knock on wood).

I took Zoloft as not only an anti-depressant but anxiety medication as well, from there I took Celexa and now currently on Remeron.
I've also done the tranqulizers Clonazpam and Lorazepam. It varies for everyone though. Sometimes you have to try different ones to find the right one, only advised by your doctor obviously. There is really no cure pill wise for anxiety. Pills can help with some of the symptoms, but we are the only ones that can really rid our anxiety, by facing our fears etc. It's best to talk to your doctor and find out options to take with this. <font color=red>~</font color=red><font color=blue>S</font color=blue><font color=green>u</font color=green><font color=blue>n</font color=blue><font color=green>d</font color=green><font color=blue>a</font color=blue><font color=green>n</font color=green><font color=blue>c</font color=blue><font color=green>e</font color=green><font color=red>~</font color=red> <font color=blue>"Never react emotionally to criticism. I have found thru various med trials and three years of therapy - that included intensive CBT - while meds are not the only answer, they are the thing that works for me. I was med free for several months and have experienced a recent reoccurrence. While some depressive feelings went along, the primary problem was the anxiety symptoms. I restarted my med and it's helping. The main difficulty I have is trying to come to grips with facing the fear of anxiety itself - triggered by so many things - just basically fearing that awful feeling and it's impact. Fear is a difficult thing to "face" when I can't put a cause or face to it other than my own

Neurontin is touted as a mood stabilizer but it's been proven to be more effective in the treatment of generalized spontaneous anxiety, the random attack kind. Ask about it. It might be a good one. It's caled gabapentin generically.

Klonopin, or Ativan can be most helpful for anxiety, but it is not going to address depression, and that you need to take up with your pdoc.
There are many options your pdoc and you can give a try. Wishing you much luck with this, don't give up faith ![]() DE In giving advice seek to help, not please your friend SOLON

Thanks for your input. I returned to my standby, Klonopin. What I have found, oddly, is when I control my toxic anxiety, my depressive symptoms lift. It seems for me the chicken versus the egg thing is figured out - at this at this time in my life. I am feeling much better. It appears after a few days of twice dosing with a small amount of Klonopin, I have been able to be fine on several days of just a small AM dose. I'm thankful I have found a good treatment. Klonopin has been great for me and I have avoided the horrible pitfalls that befall some.

I was prescribed Klonopin to take twice a day if needed, after developing anxiety/panic attacks this spring.
Ativan as needed during the night, especially when the vivid sad, memories of seeing my dad dieing in 2002 that haunt me when I am about to fall asleep, so the meds help. I guess if anxiety is the origin of some people's depression, then anti-anxiety meds can be of help. I'm sorry to hear about the death of your Dad. I've had to deal and will always "deal" with my Mother's death and it's tough stuff.
I find being able to share, receive, and give support such a comfort. There is such an aloneness feeling when dealing with these emotional issues. Best to you, too and blessings. |

The loneliness, the fact we will never talk again, we had daily phone conversations, so much lost now.
It is strange how people like us can be in a room of people but yet still felt so alone, eh? If you ever need to talk to someone, or share some things feel free to PM me. Please take care now, DE In giving advice seek to help, not please your friend SOLON
