So last night I took an Effexor XR for the second night in a LONG time, went to bed, couldn't sleep same old stuff. Well this morning I was groggy so I took a couple of anacin with caffeine in them and washed them down with a energy drink (I know STUPID). My kids and I were walking in Target and all of a sudden I felt like I was about to die, the sweating, dizziness, tunnel vision, the whole bit. We left and began driving after I felt better and WHAM I had to pull over. This time I had chest discomfort that felt like it shot through my whole body, not pain just a very strange feeling. I have had a couple of attacks years ago but none this bad.
Could all of the caffeine triggered it?

Yes absolutely the caffeine can trigger a panic attack. For some even a small amount will do it.

I hope you're feeling better now Too much caffeine trigger panic attack?

I can second that .Watch your caffeine and energy drinks are loaded with it. Try taking B vitamins for energy that 5 hour energy on TV. is just that .If you are Dep. too there been studies done that show a lack of B vitamins in people with Dep. which controls your energy and moods

I too find that caffeine makes it worse so I have stopped drinking anything with it .....kinda sucks but I would rather be without coffee than feel constantly on the verge of exploding into a panic attack....I just wish that there was a more sure method for stopping these attacks because it has become unbearable for me....glad to know that you are feeling better though....

It can, caffeine doesnt seem to bother me now that my anxiety is under control, but when it wasnt, i stayed far far away from pop, if any i would have half a can and have my husband finish it off. Now taking caffeine pills and washing it down with an energy drink? Yeh I think even people who have never had panic attacs just might have one. When I was a teenager I decided to try a yellow-jacket energy pill from the gas station and oh geez that thing was wicked! My heart was flying, i felt like i was going to pass out, and i was sweating sweating sweating!

A can usually handle a cup of joe a day without problem. If that is too much for you modern de-caf is pretty tasty these days.

I am house buying right now, so my anxiety is kind of there, and maybe if i stop the caffeine for awhile until things settle, maybe that will help.
