Anxiety comes from our core. We are anxious because we are not secure. Stress comes from the outside. If I have 6 challenging things going on outside of me I am going to feel stress because there are demands on me that are pushing me to my limit.

My guess would be that stress passes once stressful events outside of us are over, whereas anxiety is ever-present, regardless of events.

Right on Reddevil! That is what I was going to say! Stressful situations once they pass usually ease up your tensions, but anxiety is surely an ever-lasting thing, that also is triggered by extreme stress!

I know BECAUSE I HAVE IT AND ITS NO FUN! question

I think the difference is the degree of intensity.

Stress is mental tension (stuck in traffic, have an appointment in 2 minutes).

Anxiety is fear , uneasiness, worry about something real or not real (anxiety about driving a car because of a fear of being in an accident which may or may not happen).

Stress keeps us on our toes. Stress makes us be on time.
Anxiety keeps us from being able to do what we want to do. Anxiety prevents us from even showing up! question

Very good question question Stress is just a pain in the butt, and anxiety is ..... well, a scary pain in the butt.
