My heart beats, my hands shake, my knees tremble and I am unable to react to what caused the anxiety attack. These attacks last for hours when triggered. It leaves me helpless, unable to respond to the stiuation comeing at me.

I have overcome my attacks by the help of a Labrador. She stays close to me all the time. I know she is watching and will respond to anything near me. I sleep well now, and without lights on (after years of leaving them on). There have been times that she has awaken me in the middle of the night at something going on. I am able to pull from sleep without having to fight the anxiety attack first. I now can respond with strength to the situation.

I hope this helps you cope with the anxiety in some way. Each person showing the signs a little differently to anxiety, and each one having a soultion.

Time helps a lot of people thru it, therapy helps others. Talking is another way people deal with anxiety attacks. For me it was the help of a beautiful Labrador.

So please dont think it will last forever. There is a right solution for yours too.

Wishing you all the best.

That is a pretty cool solution youve found. I cant have a dog in my tiny apartment so i ALWAYS play with two sweet big dogs who live in a garage down the street. They seriously play a part in my depression/anxiety healing process and I feel so grateful that they let me just hold them when I pass by. It does make a difference to me :-) and I'm glad it makes a difference to you too.

Hi Colors,

That's a nice post. Panic attacks are lonely, and the anxiety can cut us off from everything that's around us.

Sometimes all we need is the 'loving touch', and it sounds like you have found that. I heard that there is a programme for taking dogs into hospitals, so that patients can stroke them - it makes sense.

Good thoughts to you, Myzen The solution I found for my panic attacks

Hi again colors,
Thank-you again for your positive post. I just read Myzen's post and I wanted to say, my kids are in 4-H and they take the dogs to the Nursing Homes for "Pet Therapy" The elderly love it.

I am so glad you found a friend when you needed one.

Take care,

place

Animals are SO therapeutic. I have a dog, 3 cats, and two ferrets and if I'm upset, there's always an animal that I can cuddle with. I also volunteer at the Animal Humane Society and helping animals find a new and hopefully better home produces such a wonderful feeling.

Animals are definatly theraputic. If i'm stressed here at home I go to my Cat or talk to my birds, or pet my twins cat.

I used to use Buddy (my boyfriends border terrier/parents dog) but we lost her 2 weeks ago, she was a rock for me.

Animals are definatly fantastic.

I'm really glad you've found a friend, and that's really cool that she meets your needs. Where did you get her from
