Still on the starter pack. Recent increase in week 2 from 25 mg to 40 mg.
Mostly nauseated and tired. Next week there will be an increase to 60 mg and the week after to 80 mg. Noticed that I am a bit more motivated but I'm still having difficulty with getting side-tracked. I'll start one thing then notice something else that has to be done and go to that and on and on it goes. It's aggravating because I still have my first task in mind and I want to get back to it. Hopefully at some point Strattera will help with that issue as well. My three biggest ADD challenges are: staying on task (especially when bored of the task), distraction, and being only interested in the fun part of a task and not the boring parts. For example, yoga practice. Before you can get to the more challenging stuff you have to practice and perfect the basics. I tend to want to do the challenging stuff right off even though I know that there is a risk of injury and that I'm skipping over important beginner steps. Problem for me with this is, I have the physical strength and balance to be able to do some of the more challenging stuff but my alignment is not the best and that is where risk of injury comes in. Just one example but I'm sure you get the idea.

I take Straterra but it doesn't do much good. I guess I should talk to pdoc about that next visit. Right now I should be doing some household stuff, but no...I'm sitting with hubby again, even though he's napping on and off. So here I sit, feeling more and more anxious and achieving nada.

Oh I know that feeling. You know you need to do stuff but you just keep procrastinating. Meanwhile the anxiety builds because the day is getting long and stuff (or one thing) still has yet to be done.

Hope you are able to get at least one thing done before the day is out.

I don't think its bad per she, however it kinda defeats the purpose of taking strattera. And if you are prone to panic, caffeine is not recommended.

Oh how confusing it is to not be aware of your surroundings because you are distracted by being aware of other surroundings so in the end, people end up saying "pay attention, be aware of your surroundings"

You are aware of the surroundings more then the person telling you to be aware your surroundings. You are just not aware of the specific surrounding they are focused on. They are only looking at a slice of the pie. You are looking at the whole pie. Kind of a dumb thing for them to say but if only they knew and realized it lol.

My mother was recently prescribed Vyvanse, but she has been previously diagnosed with Major Depression and other things I can't remember. Meanwhile, I have been dealing with relationship issues related to coming down from my meds and the general distractions when I don't take them. It's been severely effecting my relationship, and I am worried that it will only get worse.

Are you becoming a coroner or something? (I had to look up what phlebotomy meant and it intrigued me)

Anyways, today I bought 3 books on ADHD. Driven to Distraction (the most recent updated version) and Delivered from Distraction both by Hallowell and Ratey who have ADHD themselves as psychiatrists. Perfectly applicable to me because it is my life dream to become a clinical psychologist! I only discovered my ADHD this year after trying to complete my honours thesis.. the only project I have ever had to do that I have not been able to complete the night before/day of it was due. I had been feeling like such a dumbass all of my life that ppl kept saying I was so intelligent, so I felt like I had a lot to live up to.. but I could never bring myself to apply myself. I did very well with grades.. but like... I knew there was just so much more I could learn and I could never just sit down and read and FOLLOW THROUGH with my extra side projects I tried to make.

I love these books that I bought today. I'm already on page 70 something. They have a bunch of stories with ADHD and FINALLY I feel like I'm not alone. Like it's not actually my fault. It's brought such a relief to my life finally knowing what to call my disorganization. Now I am prepared to take it on! And figure out some strategies.

This bit, apart from honours thesis, so sounds like me! The on difference was I know I was ADD/ADHD but decided that I didn't want to be. Thats why for all these years I've not wanted to visit anyone nor go on meds. Yet, now that I'm working and going to school I have no time to goof off but I do! I'm always doing project last minute and just making the deadlines but end up with As and Bs.

Right now I am not 100% sure what else I want to look into studying. I am just using Phlebotomy as a stepping stone to get my foot in the door and to expose myself to different parts of the hospital system and see the different opportunities that could be available to me with the right schooling. So I am just starting. No big future plans yet! Who knows what the future will hold.

Thank you! I am really enjoying. I mostly did it to be able to draw blood but my class was a two part class. Learn how to draw blood then be taught about all the different lab test and things like that. We were only shown the different lab tests and how some are run and stuff and allowed to do it once or twice, just to expose them to us mostly. The hospital I am at for my internship. My contact there who is in charge of what I do and where I go is trying something different with me. I am her experiment. I am actually starting our down in the lab and seeing what goes on there and helping out there and learning the system there. Not to in depth. But getting the basics down seeing how there computer systems work in each department. How different information is entered things like that. How there tests are ran or where it is taken. Many things I thought I would not get exposed to I am getting exposure to. It is really awesome and will make me appreciate the people who work down in the lab and deal with all the specimens that get sent to them when I am up on the floor. I love it all. I feel really fortunate to be getting the opportunity I am. I am learning so much and I hope this kind of learning continues. I love it.

The third book is by the man who I think was one of the major pioneers of making ADHD known. Barkley - Taking Charge of Adult ADHD! I haven't started it.. but I know it will be good.

I picked the books up based on the anecdotal examples they give in it. I can relate to many of them. It definitely, definitely, DEFINITELY has made me feel a lot better about myself. People constantly telling me that I'm messy.. or that I have so much potential.. why am I wasting my time... and now I get it. I'm starting to get it more and more. I've stopped feeling so bad and hard on myself! And now I just have to educate myself more about it to find out how to succeed and organize myself in a better way where I don't feel like I'm constantly on the brink of collapsing (organizationally - i.e. not paying stupid bills on time, or forgetting an important work tasks.. or preparing AHEAD for grad school applications instead of two weeks before etc)

They have a chapter in Driven to Distraction totally devoted to ADD in couples. They list a lot of helpful tips at the back of that chapter! Definitely worth a read!

I'm supposed to be putting some hours into work by building our website. I also realized I hadn't finished reading the book the website is based off of, so I figured I should get to that too. Then I was worried that my boss may ask to see the website, and I wasn't sure if I had sufficiently completed enough work on it... so I thought I should look at the website again. But I didn't WANT to work on the website, so I went back to the book.
I thought about working on my honours thesis, but then I got all anxious about that because I've been anxious about it the whole time and haven't been able to focus on it. So then I decided to continue reading the book.

All this time this morning, and I've managed to put up one picture on the website, and read 5 pages in the book. Nothing on my thesis. I was getting anxious because I need to get this thesis done! So I thought I might come onto the forum again to see if anybody has any tips, but alas, if there are tips, they did not reply to the particular thread I had started. Or did I even start a thread? I don't know.

anyways..
I feel like a paradoxically calm chicken with it's head cut off. *sigh*

I hope you feel better, can you take a med if you are anxious still? I know sometimes if i take a med not due yet, i take it earlier and it works wonders.

A med like what? for anti-anxiety? I could... I'm just not sure where/what to get for that...

Any suggestions?
