There are people whom I have known my entire life, but it never occurred to me to ask them what their middle names are. I noticed a lot of patterns with their middle names, but also my own. Do any of you on the ASD notice patterns that other people don't notice? I do and the patterns besides middle names really intrigues me. What patterns intrigue you that doesn't seem to intrigue others?

I don't have an official diagnosis of ASD (yet), but my pdoc and I both agree I am on the spectrum.

I notice random things that other people don't notice like if people repeat themselves or an object has moved out of place. Maybe not so much the repeating part, because that is normal. I will notice if a poster has recently placed on a wall. I don't know if this happens to a lot of people with ASD, but I find that I have a lot of deja vu moments. I feel like I have repeated an event from the past again. It's a really weird feeling. Maybe this means I have a boring life lol.

Hope this helps .

Maybe I do too and yes I notice those patterns as well. I have lots of deja vu moments, so I know what's that like.

I notice patterns in a lot of things, but usually keep it to myself. Not many people find that kind of discussion interesting. I also like to make my own patterns. Some people think of it as a really organized person, but to me it just feels right. My spices, canned goods, crafts, computer files, etc. all follow a pattern I deem correct. Would you consider sorting a subset of enjoying patterns? For instance, separating sprinkles or beads into different piles. Rainbow order by far is my favorite sorting/pattern.

Normally I keep patterns to myself, but a lot of people I know in real life on the ASD talk about the patterns too.

I also notice weird stuff nobody else does. Too many to mention now, but usually stuff others don't even care about. It can be patterns or once-off things. Yes, but patterns too, hidden patterns, non-obvious patterns.

Same here. There are also things that I didn't notice when I was young or even think to ask about, because I was waiting for other people to bring them up. Now I do think to ask people about stuff and they refuse to talk about things-especially my own family.

Yeah, I used to arrange coloured paints/chalks/crayons/markers like that as a kid. Other kids used to store theirs all mixed, to me it just felt wrong. What's weird is 20 years later I find out I'm on something called the "autism spectrum". Maybe it was a sign I should have noticed as a kid as a foreshadowing of my life to come.

I was diagnosed as an adult as well. Ironically, my brother has Aspbergers. I was always thought to be dramatic and spoiled, which looking back, was just sensory overload and being Bipolar.

I read an article that said children who walk on their toes are highly likely to be on the spectrum. My eyes opened wide--I had always done that, my dad even trying to get me to walk correctly, but to me it felt right to toe walk. Just thought it was some weird quirk I had until I read that.

I don't know if I was toe walking all the time before marching band, but I definitely started doing it after marching band...

It's that or massive heel-striking because roll stepping.

My biggest issue with walking is that I lean forward when I walk and my mom is always telling me to stop being hunched over when I walk but I can't help it. I have a hypothesis that people, especially women, walk while leaning back a little because they're compensating for the weight of their breasts, and I don't do that because I'm nearly flat-chested. I also look down because I have this mental block about stepping on cracks and lines and also I want to make sure I don't step in dog poop or something.

It bothers me that the pattern in the tiny tiles in the non-remodeled bathrooms don't fit perfectly into a square.

When I eat Smarties, I sort them into colors and then eat from each color until I have one left. I eat the "defective" ones first and leave the better looking ones for last.

My mom makes a big deal about me walking hunched over and also being hunched over while sitting down. I myself also look down, so I know what you mean.

I actually thought the girls I was dating all had similarities and it was going to be a repeating pattern forever. First, the name Felicia, then Lydia (ends in the same letters) then Breena, then Gina, then Tessa (ending in A three times in a row). The ones who were 2 years older than me were mean and cheated or I cheated. They both called me retarded.

The ones who knew each other were met around the same time and both belittled me and were mean. Tessa had lasted 2 and a half years and we both liked to drink or use drugs. And then I met B when I was drinking heavily. She acted so much like her, I'd dream of Tessa even though she was out of the picture for years. That pattern is because I attract mean Borderlines though. And then I broke up with B after 2 and a half years!

I don't know what Smarties are, but people used to think it was weird that I ate Skittles in alphabetical order according to their color.

And I'll bet not too many people have Xavier for a middle name, either, you poor kid. Nobody's marked "X" yet. So I dub you Growly Xavier Cat. No middle name!? As if. What were your parents thinking?

Sort of like little button-shaped things of chocolate coated in a coloured skin on the outside, almost like m&m's basically.

I don't know what Smarties are in South Africa, but here where I live (United States) Smarties are basically little buttons of sugar and some tart flavoring. No chocolate. There are smaller ones (rolls of 15 about the size of my pinky finger) and bigger ones (rolls of like 12 or 15 that are about the same size as those Neco candies, about 2cm in diamater and maybe 5-6 inches in length). Some people like to crush the smaller ones and snort them.
