My last visit with my Pdoc he said I have Bipolar (NOS) with psychotic features. Does anyone here have experience with this. I am really getting afraid that I'm going to eventually go into full blown psychosis soon.
I've been hearing my recently dead dog whimper or his quiet (whispered) sweet bark. I also hear faint radio & tv broadcasts. I also see people or a tall black caped death like figure in my peripheral vision. Beautiful patterns on my bedroom ceiling, voices or a voice close or far but I can't quite make out what they are saying. Feeling someone close to me but no one is there. Once I woke up to find my dresser with a mirrored hutch was gone. The wall was completely blank. I woke my hubby up to tell him--I was afraid. He said it was still there--we bickered back and forth for awhile. He turned on the light and it was there--shut it again and it was still there. There's more if I go back over the years. Thankfully these are not extreme experiences but does anyone know if they get worse with age? I haven't had them as often as I do now. I now have them several times a day and several days a week. What do I do? It's beginning to scare me. |

I experience psychoses sometimes. They've never gotn worse than hearing things and seeing things for me, but some people have extreme symptoms.
I had a friend that ran outside in her underwear and dived into a pile of snow outside of our high school proclaiming that the lord and savior had come to rescue her. The good thing about being with someone you love, is that they can keep an eye on you and tell you if they think anything is wrong. Or call emergency services if necessary. Most importantly, be careful. |

I've seen and sensed things that weren't there and also heard a voice as well that doesn't sound like me. I know they're not real, but they seem so real and scary at the time. Seroquel has lessened these symptoms for me. I'm also bipolar, so it doesn't mean your psychotic or anything. It's part of the anxiety/depression usually. Some people see & hear things during mania as well.

I agree with thinker. I have had psychosis in both mania and depression. I used to hear a phone ringing when it wasn't. I thought there were snakes in the wall, I couldn't see them but damn it they were there. I also saw shadowy figures out of the corner of my eye. When I turned to look at them they were not there. I also have bipolar disorder. Just keep your pdoc updated and talk it over with your therapist. I also take Seroquel and it has helped me a lot. ![]()

thank you--all of you.
Some of you said that Seroquel has helped diminish the "seeing/hearing" things. What scares me is that I have been on seroquel for about 7 months and its getting worse! I also take lamotrigine (Lamictal), lithium and Conazepam (Klonopin) and the symptoms are still getting worse. It doesn't seem to matter whether I am hypomanic or very depressed anymore. It now happens everyday even when my mood is in the normal range. I am so tired of trying all of these pill potions. I'm just tired of working so hard to do all my Pdoc tells me to do--and I do everything he says. I have finally gone almost a week within a normal mood range and the psychotic features (what the Pdoc calls them) get more frequent! I'm just so very tired of living like this. I used to come here to encourage others but right now there isn't anything left in me to do so. I apologize to everyone and hope you will forgive me. Thanks for listening--signing off, JourneyUpward |
