Ever since I decide to get help, I have been trying to get a better understanding of what my condition maybe. When i was first diagnosed I was to much in denial to analyze my behavior. This leads me to my question, what effect does adreniline have on mood. I was sitting around waiting for my wife to come home last night so I could go to work. I was really blah feeling, restless and unhappy. After 15 mins. or so I could feel my energy building quickly. My mind was clear of unessacary chatter, I felt good, really good. My energy level kept growing. I didn't have trouble rembering anything and was very self assured. When i got home and started talking to my wife, I noticed that i was talking even faster than her (trust me thats saying alot). It got to the point where i was tripping over my words. But before to long I could feel myself sliding back down, even though I tried despertly not to. I'm not sure why i wrote this post, I guess that I am full of questions but I dont know what I'm looking for. Now I've gone and tangled my self up, maybe i think to much. I don't know. Sorry if this post seems convaluted, I'm just confused.

Hi weathered, you put that all really well actually, at least utterly recognizable to any bipolar person. lol.
I'm pretty sure adrenaline will intensify almost any mood, but I'm not sure you're describing adrenaline. I know I get adrenaline rushes associated with PTSD and panic attacks associated with that. I suppose some of the endorphines released in bipolar cycles have adrenal components too, but for most of us it's a little trickier than feeling "up" or "down." It's good you're trying to get a better understanding of your condition. One of the better things I've been exposed to for that has been the DBT or dialectical behavioral therapy. It's centered around mindfulness and learning to practice describing your feelings and thoughts to yourself objectively. It might really suit you. sqrl.

Welcome to psychcentral! Yes, adrenaline has that effect upon the body... it's for the "flight or fight" response... and we don't need nearly as much of it as 2500 years ago when ppl had to fight for their lives physically...or run for them
Getting your body chemicals balanced is so very important for all of us...otherwise you are so constantly reacting to life, you don't have a chance to live it. Do you have a doctor, pdoc or T, to help you ? Again, welcome!

No, not yet. I'm trying to find someone but I feel like I need a little better understanding of whats going on before I an properly talk to someone about it. When I was going through all of my problems years back I would get upset and have such short and strong bursts of adrenaline that i would be starving after words. It would just flare up and in a matter of minutes I would be completely drained. I dosen't happen so much anymore but I also live a much calmer life now, so I dont a have a need to get that mad.
