Hi for the past few months I keep hearing my family calling for me but there is nobody there, also I keep seeing spiders and as if a mouse has just ran along the floor along with the ground jumping up to my face?(Only way I can describe it)
What is this does anyone know or has experienced it?
I don't even know if I've posted in the right place.
Any advice please I'm quite scared ,take care

I have minor hallucinations almost constantly myself. Didn't really notice it until I moved out on my own, away from a huge loud household setting, but it's always happened to me. Then again, I'm more often than not in the middle of an episode. Whether I'm depressed or manic, I get hallucinations. I was reading around in the "Schizo & Psychosis" forums & perhaps your disturbances could be derealisation. Perceptory disturbances as a result of stressors. Just talk to a T & try some self soothing methods. Mine usually get really bad to a point where I have to put myself to sleep, but if it gets me in a calm place, it's what I have to do... Take care.

When I was full blown manic I had very similar delusions. It took a week in the mental health unit, a heavy daily dose of depakote (mood stabilizer), and a heavy dose of resperidal (anti-psychotic) to bring me back to "normal". I would suggest calling a help-line if you have one available, tell the dispatcher exactly what's going on, and follow what ever instructions they give.
This is how I got to the hospital, was diagnosed, and began treatment. It saved my life and might save yours. Hope this helps. Good luck

I just had a really bizarre experience today... I have "minor" auditory hallucinations, even when on medication and reasonably stable. Well, sometimes those hallucinations are based on fleeting sounds like next doors phone ringing, or a lorry going over the bridge further in the village. (Lots of rumbling.) So today I was reading, and I put in ear plugs. Bloody wonderful devices... they cut out the ambient chatter no end.

One problem. I started having tactile hallucinations. For example, feeling my phone vibrate (there was no record of an incoming call.) Insects running across my arm. Then a deep rumbling pressure on the skull behind my ears...

I am mightily miffed. I thought wearing ear plugs might do SOME good. (bangs head on wall.)

So... OP, I'm afraid my advice is just be aware of what makes sense, and ignore the blarney, whether auditory or otherwise... since it seems we have to put up with some level of crap. Just, when it comes up, challenge it... stick your tongue out at it, and waggle your ears. If it was a real spider, so what? You're a hell of a lot bigger. If it was an imaginary spider, so what? We all have imaginations.

We've got to get used to being annoyed by these things and then dumping them as the irritating waste of time that they are.

I don't know if this is any use to you... just right today it's the only advice I can give myself.

In other words... f.ck it. You're better that all this crap anyway.

Oh, I hate tactile hallucinations... Granted I also have nerve conditions, but it still freaks me the hell out! Mainly bugs crawling on me, as well as I feel sensory hypersensitivity a lot of the time. Drives me batty. I hope you are able to figure out why you're still having problems even though you're stable on meds. : /

As long as you don't experience these things out in public you should be fine. I think this is called schizophrenia nothing wrong in my book it simply means you're a sensitive person. You can feel and see things others can't.

Hi all thank you for the replies much appreciated. The thing is I'm on a mood stabiliser but its primarily for epilepsy not my mental health and I also take sertraline, may have another name in US.
I've been a manic depressive for years but its only now the mental health team know the extent of my episodes as I've tried to dismiss any changes in my ever changing mood,I always believed my children would be taken away from me if I told the truth.
So I've got the mood diary and these hallucinations to tell the PDoc about,I'm just so relieved that others understand what I'm experiencing.
At first they freaked me out but now I'm used to it and I'm not afraid of spiders anyhow.
Thank you all again
Take care

Hi jk -

I experience pretty much the same things you do...the voices (typically my mother), and the unnerving small scurrying animals and bugs sorts of hallucinations. I also feel the bugs, adding even more fun. Not knowing you, and not being a professional, I can't obviously tell you whether or not you are schizophrenic. If you've been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, then I would not worry yourself more with wondering about schizophrenia at this point. These hallucinations can very well be part of the bipolar. I recently had a relapse of my hallucinations in June and my pdoc increased my risperidone. It has helped immensely.

Tell your pdoc about them. They're not going to take your children away for this. The pdoc may want to try an antipsychotic. How have you been feeling otherwise?

I have halucinations during my depressive phases. I've had tactile halucinations of a worm or eel of some kind slithering around in my skull and have had visual halucinations (while driving, no less). Psychosis can happen during episodes, both high and low. I recommend talking with your PDoc and describing what you are experiencing, your doc may want to add or increase the dosage of an anti-psychotic. They helped me and the right med/dosage will likely help you as well.

Hope it all works out for you!

Hey JK, don't worry!!! Some of the things I've seen in public would make your hair curl ... Fortunately I come from a family that expects and accepts weirdness, but I do know there's always stigma. Not as much as you would fear however...

Hi thank you so much for the reply, believe it or not its always my mothers voice I hear also.
The thing is my PDoc is not sure yet if I have Bipolar or a personality disorder so I take valporate for my epilepsy and only sertraline for mental health at the moment.
I've felt terrible lately they asked if I wanted to go into hospital but I said no especially when he said I could be home in 3 weeks!I'm bloody agoraphobic for god sake, and where would the kids think I'd have gone.
Honestly the *UK* are so far behind in mental health its un believable my poor husband has been on suicide watch and hasn't been able to work,he's worried sick and the PDoc wouldn't bring appointment forward either.
Thank you for the reassurance I appreciate it,take care
JK
