I got 6 hours straight of sleep this afternoon like my pDoc told me I needed. After days of random naps here and there, let me tell you I feel like a brand new man.

Haven't posted on here yet tonight because my brain is soo refreshed I've been able to get work done that normally I would put off because I couldn't focus. Well now I'm thinking clearly, working at an efficient (not rediculously fast and sporadic) pace, and getting things checked off my list left and right.

So my advice to all the nightshifters that are on here becuase they don't feel like sleeping: GO TO BED!!

Great stuff!
I find sleep to be a real solace for me. I get my energy back, and sleep also allows me the opportunity to hide from the world and allow the storm to rage above my head rather

I defiantly need some sleep right now. I usually don't appreciate sleep as much as I should.

Sleep has been my Goliath that I've yet to be able to slay. I'm taking 300 mg of serequel along with 100mg of trazadone which my pdoc thinks is enough to take care of the sleeping problems but it is just absolutely not working. I lay down every night at ten and end up just staring at the ceiling or running around in my head chasing bouncing thoughts. I've told my pdoc this serveral times and he just tells me to do what I'm already doing (Cutting out caffiene, no naps, exercise). I have another apointment with him this coming Monday. If he doesnt try something new I think I am going to get a second opinion. As most of you know I'm sure not being able to sleep is enough to drive you crazy on it's own; then to have to deal with the other crap that comes along with BP is just too much to handle.

go to bed my boyfriend tells me that so much. I work nights too- it's hard some days like today but yes i think everyone around notes when Beauflow hasn't slept much. It's just hard to turn off the brain for me atleast at times, thus little to no sleep. Sigh i agree with you all sleep is wonderful and does the brain good thanks for this reminder thou . Think i'll try to take a two hour nap before work now lol

Sleep is more important than just the feeling....the body & mind actually heal when it's sleeping including from depression & anxiety. The healing that the body does while asleep from injuries & illnesses is amazing. I know that I don't sleep well, but when I fractured my back earlier this year after falling off a horse, I couldn't do much other than lay in bed & sleep....it helped with everything including the healing.

When I wasn't sleeping well, I would go into my Dr's office & my blood pressure was sky high.....he kept telling me to go do a GP & get meds to take care of it, but I was determined that I knew my blood pressure was normally low....I realized that I needed sleep & to get back on my omega-3....I did that for the next 2 months & sure enough, my blood pressure was back to completely normal.....just proved to me how important sleep is in our life.

And it was just that simple? You lay down, fell asleep, slept six hours straight--just like that?

Well, I'm impressed. Can't tell you what I'd give for that....

That's the thing. With Depakote, and the occaisional Risperdal, I can fall asleep anywhere (woods, park bench, bus). Its just that I keep myself so busy to avoid boredom, I never seem to find the time to lay down and go to bed

Working nights is erratic at best, especially dealing with the meds.
Try & figure out the difference between boredom & your mind/body needing sleep. Which is the priority, keeping busy for the sake of maybe missing something or making the time & priority of sleep.

I know, that you know, the importance of sleep, (gentle reminder).
Thanks for this!

Yes I do. But then there's the side that always goes back to that classic young-male adage: I can sleep when I'm dead. hahahah

Just the other day you were telling us to "go to bed!" What gives?

And... one wakes up from sleep, not so much from dead.
