I've made it thru intake, and got my bed, as long as I don't act out & end up in the quiet room (good luck) I will be able to use the computer to update ya'll on things. My doctor has said he is going to put me on (back on) Paxil 50mg x 2 daily Doxepin 100mg before bed and now I'm going to be put on Zyprexa 5mg for the first 3 days then 10mg thereafter. I don't know alot about Zyprexa or why he is putting me on it, but I do know it can cause weight gain, and I am not a fan of it, I have asked him about it, and my doctor says that we will cross the road when we get there. UMM NO! I want to know about it now. Thanks for all the support ya'll give. I need it now. My doctor said he won't authorize release until I make signifigant progress in the initial therapy stuff (I dont talk to T's) So I may be here a while.

Hey there, Chandler! Roadie here. The psych unit I was in was on the fourth floor of our community hospital too.
![]() The doc's putting you on Zyprexa to stabilize your moods. It probably won't state causing weight gain unless he gets you up to the higher doses, & they increase that stuff slowly. Ah, so you don't like talking to Ts, huh. Find something to talk to them about--trucks, dogs, a subject you can talk about which some enthusiasm for awhile. Some hobby when you were a kid? A comic book story you remember in detail? You need to figure a way to talk with a couple of the Ts there ... because you do want to get out of there!! ![]() ![]() We're pulling for you, Chandler. Just focus on you getting better. ![]()

Don't worry about the zyprexa right now. I was put on it and worried about weight gain; If you exerecise it won't be a huge problem. For the moment, though, you're in the hospital so do what needs doing. I've never been inpatient, but been to PER several times. So yeah- just do what needs doing in the hospital to get better. And besides- I have felt SO much better on zyprexa.

Chandler, thanks for checking in with us. You have been in my thoughts. I am really glad you are starting to receive help. And ya, hey lucky, to get to use a computer! I wasn't even allowed to have my cell phone. That's cool.
Roadie has good advice on talking to t's. Plus getting released is some good motivation to talk I think. I hope Zyprexa works good for you. Just keep working on you! We are all here rooting for you!! ![]() |

Chandler,
Here is hoping you get the help you need. I liked the suggestion from the other posters too about talking with your T's. How about talking about cooking and the cook book you want to write. Good luck and speedy recovery. ![]()

Glad to hear you are safe and getting the help you need. One thing my doctor and I discussed when talking about Zyprexa and weight gain is the possibility of adding Glucophage (metformin) to counteract the weight gain and decrease the potential for insulin resistance. Just something to possibly ask about as you work your way onto the Zyprexa.
I hope you're feeling better soon. ![]()

Hello All,
Well as destiny would have it, being without a cigarette has not been fun and I ended up in the quiet room shortly after posting my first post on this thread. I ended up firing my meal tray across the room into the wall. But all is better now, they finally decided to give my a nicotine patch. (I swear you have to act out to get one, and I'm sure each patch is like 100.00 lol). I'm taking my meds as they are given out now, last night was the first night I was given Zyprexa and it knocked me on my arse. I slept probably for 14 hrs straight. They won't let me wear my CPAP because of the hosing, they think that I may be suicidal so as per usual I can't have anything like that. I have made threats of suicide in the past, and have secured that record again during this stay. I can honestly tell you that most times right before I am admitted like this time, I am pretty much right on the edge. I lost my computer priveledges yesterday, but regained them now. I am incontinent due to a car accident in 2005 and without getting into to much detail, they don't allow me to wear the protective undergarment (diaper) in here either because I can "possibly suffocate myself with it." Trust me, I won't be doing that LOL. I'm trying to be good, but I'm like a 12year old when I am in here, I always have to start some sort of drama to make it thru. I guess its a coping mechanism I guess. I sat with the Therapist, his name is Tyler and very cute too, being that I am gay and he is obviously gay it made it easier to try to speak. I got out some of the very recent and current feelings that have been plaguing me, but I refused to do much more than that. Tyler my T feels I should be in here for atleast 2-3 weeks so I can get stabilzed and be able to open up. I was like WTF, I'm not a danger to myself or others, but they feel under the right circumstances I may be, but seriously, who isnt under the right circumstances. He asked me if I would like to be possibly transferred to a different facility, and I was given 2 options. State Hospital (but non - commited) or to another community hospital. I was like WHY? Why would you ask that, well apparently they think that my behavior indicates something more other than BiPolar could be going on, and might benefit me more. I dunno. I guess I will let the Dr. decide. Anyways this is my update, this is one of the FEW sites I'm allowed to look at. Apparently the pysch ward is not a place to view pornography when you are bored, I learned my lesson, thats why I don't have access to my Android. I'll try to be good, for me and ya'll. -Chandler Bing

All things considered, Chandler... you're doing great, I think. I'm sorry it's all so hard on you, but hospital's are stressful.
Major kudos for talking with T! ![]() ![]() Deep breathing, Chandler. Still thinking of you, buddy.

Only if you knew LOL, I'm doing as told, trying not to be too abrasive, there are others that are really testing the waters here, trying to keep my nose clean, but sometimes my emotions take over and they have to babysit me. I'm trying to be good though.

Well, trying counts for an awful lot in a psych unit! Considering the states we're usually in when we arrive! Keep up the good work, and stay off the porn sites (shame on you! LOL) I'm proud of you for talking to your T.

I was told that the patients in the psych unit here get those electronic cigs! Pretty cool.
Good luck.
