Im really curious as to how long I can go without sleeping a full night. Only been sleeping a couple of hours a night most nights for a while now. Nothing helps me sleep. I dont feel bad or too good so idk what to do. Im up to see a new pdoc in a couple of weeks. I hope he can figure this out because i know its not good.

What does everyone else do for sleep? The thing is that I can take meds and they put me to sleep but I wake up 2-3 hours later and sometimes like right now, I dont feel the need for any more sleep and I know I cant just lay down because I will just lay there and get upset with myself.

I accept it or take more meds! Back when I was on zopiclone, I'd take one, fall asleep, wake up 3 hours later and take another, given I would fall asleep at all. Sometimes I'd just lie in bed feeling fuzzy and halucinate. Good drug! I'd take more but, they got me on Seroquel. Same problem but, right now I don't even take it 'til late into the night. I don't wanna sleep!!!!

Insomnia is in the eye of the beholder. If you stop worrying about not being able to sleep and just go about your day, it is easier to manage. I don't mind missing sleep myself. My job is so boring it almost requires showing up over tired and half asleep.
Thanks for this!

personally I take melatonin. It always seems to knock me out pretty good, but make sure to take it before too long, cause you don't want to be drowsy 2 hours before you gotta get up. Take it early, like 45 minutes before you WANT to head to bed.

Nope. OTC. probably in the 'herbal' section. It's right up there with Kava Kava and herbal remedies. It works amazing though.

No problem. Can't hurt, and can only help. Sometimes I cut them in half because honestly they can make you a *little* groggy waking up, but it's the best sleep ever.

It's my little secret. he he he

I've been off meds for a while, but I've been there before. Obviously, it's 4AM and I'm not sleeping. And I'm doing 'just fine'. About the only help I can be is copy-and-paste pubmed articles for you about the drugs you're taking. I have access to that.
Thanks for this!

Thay would be great. I just know something bads going to happen with losing so much sleep. Its never good for me.

Thank you so much, I had no idea mymeds could do this. I take zoloft, abilify, tegretol, trazadone, thorazine, synthroid and a bunch of vitamins. Do any of those stick out to you?

Have the same up and down problem you do. Feel wide awake at 4 am, but can't keep my eyes open at 9. All I can say is, you are not alone.

I think the getting up is key. Obviously that's what I've done this morning. I know that staying in the bed tossing and turning doesn't work. As for meds if it is before 2am I usually take something, currently temazepam(Restoril). If it is past 2 though I find I have too much trouble being up the next day. I just try taking a nap.

Two somas... as in Huxley's "The Brave New World"?

I am surprised such a high dose of trazodone does not do the trick for you. Have you tried taking more (50-100mg) when you wake up? The first doctor who prescribed trazodone for me said it is fine to take more when you wake up. But we were talking lower dosages to start with. Maybe check with your new p-doc at the first appt?

Im not sure if they r huxleys. They r muscle relaxers w pain med in them. My husband brought me some melatonin from adelles a local all natural store. Im really keeping my fingers crossed for this. If it knocks me out and i wake up i will take trazadone. If it doesnt knock me out i will take them all and c if that works for me. I really dont know what its going to take. I was on 300mg seroquel, 200 mg of trazadone, somas and taking tylenol pm and still waking up. Its so very aggrivating, because I know whats going to happen if i dont get a full night of rest soon.

I think you are having rebound insomnia. I remember back when I was on geodon, I developed tolerance to it's sleep-inducing effects. After a while, I couldn't fall asleep without it. Then after even more time, I couldn't even fall asleep WITH it. Your body adjust to having so much sedatives in your system, and as a result it becomes harder and harder to fall asleep.

Since melatonin is more natural I might take a couple if it's that bad. I know it knocks me out well with one, and I even take a 1/2 of one most of the time. I used to also take nyquil with it if I really wanted to be comatose.

I have been dealing with the same issue for months now. I am prescribed Ambien which helps me fall asleep but I wake up about 4 hours later wide awake and cant fall back to sleep. Then later in the day feel like crap for not getting enough sleep. This has been going on so long I wouldnt know what it would feel like to get a normal night of sleep. I also take Klonopin, Celexa and Abilify. You would think with all these drugs I would knocked out for the night and sleep well I hope things work out for you, I most deff feel for ya. Take Care

Well I took 6mg of melatonin and woke up 1 and a half hours later and took a trazadone and woke up again 1and a half hours later. Guess Im just not sleeping anymore.
Wonder if this could be reversed if I quit sleeping meds all together for awhile?

I'm up, too. Welcome to the midnight insomniacs club. We should have a secret password to get in!

I took all my meds at 7, because I'd been up since 3:30, hoping to get a full night's sleep, and not have the daytime drowsiness tomorrow. No such luck. I'm up and down, just like the rest of the midnight insomniacs.

I just took 4 mgs of Klonipin, hoping it will knock me into tomorrow, or at least for another 4 hours. Now I'm waiting for it to kick in.

We can spend the next few hours discussing something pointless and hope it turns into an lengthy argument while everyone else is awake. I would forward the following topic if it were up to me:

Better Era for Cartoons: '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s?

Top Cartoons of the '70s: (Hanna-Barbera) Scooby Doo, Super Friends, Mission Magic
Top Cartoons of the '80s: GI Joe, Voltron, Transformers, Thunder Cats, etc
Top Cartoons of the '90s: Captain Planet, TMNT, Ducktails, Simpsons, etc
Top Cartoons of the '00s: Cowboy Bebop, Futurama, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, South Park, etc
Top Cartoons of the '10s: Adventure Time with Finn & Jake, Regular Show, Ben 10

Hmmm, when I was taking sleeping med this did happen to me. I quite for about 9 months and then when I restarted I was ok. But now I only take them when I am acutely manic. Thing is when I am very manic, almost nothing makes me sleep at all. It's not good, that's wound me up in the hospital. Tho they did get me to sleep by severely dosing me up on several strong sedatives at once.

I really hope you find a way to sleep. If your like me and it sounds like you are, sleep is a must for not getting to manic.

For the last week I've gotten about an hour or two a night, I know it's bad and I am definitely going up, right there with you. I don't have anything on hand except for many different antipsychotics which I am not currently on. And for some weird reason I am afraid of melatonin.
