Hi Heather, sorry you're feeling so low.I know what you mean when you say you're tired of being a burden, I do, but you know what? You're NOT a burden. We all share certain weights with friends and loved ones. At times your friend is a bit too tired and you need to shift the weight a bit to help her out so that she doesn't collapse, and sometimes, it's the other way around. I hope you'll continue chatting to us

Heather, I'm so sorry you feel this way. I've been in that boat, no job, no money, damn near homeless. I lost everything I had. Twice. It is a terrible thing to have to go thru. I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

You are a strong, capable person who is going thru a rough time. I know how demeaning it can be, but no one regrets helping you at all. You will get thru this, I promise. It might not clear up over night, but it will get better in time. Everything changes, and every day is another chance. Hang in there and keep posting. We will always be glad to listen and support you.

Peace.

Hi Heather -
I'm a firefighter/paramedic forced out of my career because of my BP and other psych diagnoses. Trying to get back into healthcare in some form because I'm never allowed to do fire/EMS again and my current job changing oil and tires sucks. I wrecked my marriage by being selfish and stupid on a manic episode. I'm seriously struggling with cutting again after blowing two years of being SI free and I'm suicidal most days.

The point here isn't my sob story. I've learned that many people here have had it worse than I do but they are still in there and fighting. I try to follow their example and listen to their wisdom. There are many good and caring people here. Please keep talking to us, we want to help you any way we can.

With your experience as an RN, perhaps you could work for a while as a personal care worker? Or a respite worker? Helping someone else one-on-one may also help you heal.

Hello, Heather, and Welcome to PC. You sound like you are in a rough spot, but please try and remember that nothing you are going through is permanent. Things getter better. You will get your license back and a career, so your in between job is to find a work situation that won't cause you any harm while you recover. Have you considered outside the health field, if you are getting the "overqualified" stamp on everything inside it? Even WalMart is better than no job at all.

Sending hugs your way, and a few warm fuzzies:

I'm a nurse also and haven't been able to find a job lately. I recently decided to make a new resume that was a more functional version focusing on all of my skills, from both health care and other positions and putting it under categories like communication, customer service, computer, administrative, etc...I put a few bullets under each one drawing from different positions I have held. I use this resume when applying to non-health care jobs which I am only on day 2 of doing, so I have no idea if this is going to help.

As far as everything else, I am so sorry you are going through so much.

Buggs is right, walmart is where I'm stuck while I'm trying to find a real job again, but at least it's a paycheck.
