Hello all I have a question, how many of you suffer from very real visual images that are terrifying and keep you from doing things?

I have this problem with visual images of senario of bad things that can and might happen to me. It has cause problems because behind doors I imagine people are there and can see them like a video of what's behind the door and the bad things they will do to me. I wonder who else has this problem, I know it's not just me right?

I haven't had that exact experience but I just wanted to send you hugs. Are you having the visuals right now?

I used to imagine myself hurting other people because I was bullied lalalala in high school and middle school. I used this to quell my anxiety because I was a lot smaller and unpopular. It was a way for me to deal with it.

I think you're experiencing anxiety because this is created by you. Hallucinations are generally not induced by thoughts. Honestly, the best way to get through it is to experience the anxiety and go through the motions of having that anxiety. It will feel a lot more terrible before it gets better, but who wants to really live in fear?

I hear ya, they aren't really halucinations just pictures that show up in my mind. Idk I've tried to get through the anxiety and just do it but sometimes it gets to be to much and I just can't do it. I think I might just suck it up and strugle through it.

No, it isn't just you. I have them a lot from time to time. Usually as part of an episode. If I'm depressed, mixed or manic, but not psychotic, they are very intrusive, but I find I can bear them mostly, even though they are emotionally draining.
The trouble comes when I feel compelled to act on them, change my route, cancel arrangements, treat someone with strong suspicion, etc. That is usually a clue for me that paranoia and psychosis are setting in.

I hope yours give you some space.

Visual images stay so long in my mind that I finally dropped cablevision and they all
began to dissipate. (Whipped cream will bring them on again in my sleep. So I don't
use milk products often--that helps, too.)

Otherwise, it's a restful sleep.

It's just the blumin' sensitivity that most of us have that gets to me, frankly.
