I am feeling so good with so much going on..... my sister got married this past weekend and I was the ONLY one not in the wedding because I have bipolar illness! I survived being scrutinized by the family with a fine tooth comb! My car was totaled but I found out it was only 1/2 payment from being paid off.... so I didn't cry and I just went about finding out what I needed to do and started to organize. I feel like my old corporate self. but when I start feeling energetic I'm wondering if this a sign of on coming mania or just me feeling "normal" even on all of the meds. ?! I'm taking my meds every night and I'm going to my T every week. and I see my pdoc every month. I have been feeling increasingly better each passing week. I'm just going to take the plentiful proceeds from my car wreck and buy a new car. I didn't want to go car shopping but plenty of people are cheering me on. So I think I can do it without much anxiety. I'm actually looking forward to doing the car shopping now. So I can try out my old negotiating skills and see if I can still work it. so even though I should be on the bottom of the barrell I'm feeling good, and better, and things are looking up. so am I having a manic moment or am I just happy to be back to my old self after such a long hyatus?

I dunno. Doesn't sound like you should be at the bottom of the barrel unless there's other stuff going on... And families? Weddings? IMO, they're a trial regardless. ![]() Hoping your upswing's a good one. ![]() |

I would say not to worry if it's mania or not just be careful and enjoy the good times, it sounds like your Being very reasonable and smart about things which is good. I'd say just enjoy your good feeling you deserve it.

Yeah I would say enjoy it. Sounds like your in control right now. But watch for the triggers. The car shopping might do it. Just take it slow and make sure your thoughts are clear. I wish i would have when I bought my RX-8. I screwed up cause I got anxious, then it went into a short mania. Started drinking bad. Take care.

I find the hypo manic times really frustrating anymore. Now that I am well aware of what it is. I know that it is temporary. I know that it will pass and I also know that it's bastard cousin depression is on it's way. Ugh... not meaning to bring you down, just sharing my thoughts on mania.

I like Clinte89's take on it. You don't have to label it; just be mindful of what you're doing (seems like you are on the lookout for the dangerous impulses) and make the best of it. There is nothing wrong with feeling good...just be careful with your choices. Good luck finding a new car

Good advice above, enjoy feeling good. stay aware, mindful of what's going on with your thoughts, impulses, think about them. be happy, feels good

Thanks all! I feel very in control of it. I had a friend go car shopping with me and when I had to empty out the old car I just kept moving forward with the day and doing all of the running around necessary to dispose of the old car. So I did that then shopped like a diva for a new car. I can afford the payments easily so it wasn't an issue and the car can be paid off in two years. So I'm in a great spot. I had enough left over to treat myself to an ipad after paying down some debt and putting some in savings. I know that something else is on it's way to be a challenge but after two years I feel up for the task now. stronger. more in control of the illness than it is of me. doc appt tomorrow so we shall see.

I don't want to be a killjoy...but the one thing I would check in with yourself on is how many hours a night you are sleeping (noticing that you're up at 1:30 in the morning). For me, at least, that's a concrete sign that I'm getting manic. And if it's a mild hypomania, that's great! Much of the world was built on the energy of hypomanic bipolars, lol. But if you notice you're sleeping less than usual, it could be sign to just keep a closer eye on things. I'm glad to hear you're feeling better.
