Because whenever I try to be positive and happy, I end up disappointed cuz I see how awful my life is and how lonely I am

But when I accept life sucks and accept everything sucks, I feel less miserable

Life sucks. It does. You don't have to fake being happy. If you're not happy, admit that you're not happy. It does make you feel better because nobody enjoys being fake. Nobody likes pretending.

You haven't given enough information to really go into details, so I can't tell you whether you're trying to be happy or done trying and want to mope. Not enough info.

But change starts with you.

You do not have to be positive. Here is a brilliant NYT opinion on the positive power of negative thinking - http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/05/op...-thinking.html - I have already posted it here but you weren't around.

I agree with you life sucks major. But for me it's not easy to accept this as I remember at one time things where ok but it seems as I get older things get worse and worse. Best of luck

hope hurts. no doubt about it. hope hurts and it's much easier to lay down and accept that it will never get any better. but it will.

Yep, life does suck, but not all of the time. That's one thing I like about my bp, at least I know that there is a new mood somewhere around the corner if I can just get through the latest dark time. I'm trying to pull myself out of one of the dark moods now, and I'll keep trying until it passes.

Yes, not ALL the time. One way I try to keep my head up is to realize that we haven't hit rock bottom because there is no rock bottom, you can always sink lower.

Acceptance is important. And life does suck sometimes.
But sometimes it doesn't. and those are the things I try to put focus and emphasis on- the parts of life that don't suck, and then I look for ways to be grateful, cuz sometimes life sucks but life sucks more when you don't take the time to inventory the positives that you have in your life and be thankful for them. I hope you feel better soon.

Yea life seems to suck, sometimes more often than not. Good to accept that, so that you're more realistic about potential pain to come, and protect your heart and feelings.

But balance is key.

I have to watch out for catastrophic thinking, this is my problem, something I have worked on through rationalizing. When I go into my catastrophic thinking, it is a dangerous place. I do like to indulge my negative feelings quite a bit, and really feel my pain, hide in my comfy bed.

It's also my responsibility to try to be healthy and take care of myself so that a better mood, and better feelings and experiences can come along. This is how bp is, another mood comes along.

Whatever you're going through sounds ******. Feel free to tell us more about it if you want.

Hamster, love that article, i live in the mountains above that area, I'm thinking, "those towny idiots, walking on hot coals... yea you get burned... cool moss? hell no, run fast over those coals!"

Amen.
(That article actually cracks me up in light of a bit of a rant I posted just couple days ago on another thread. Gurus. Pffft.)

And just because I can't resist...
(Sorry about the space, but I wanted to post it simply as a link, it wasn't cooperating and I didn't want to deal. Just put 'em together. It'll be worth it.)

Certainly doesn't preclude a sense of humor.
In fact, I think it improves it.

so unfair everybody doesn't have to experience cholera. Dying of lack of clean water. Genocide. Statelessness. Mandatory military service (even for women). Broken ribs. Abusive relationship. Lupus. Nuclear fallout. Tsunami and earthquakes.

Just on top of my head. And yes, making lists of things that would suck makes me feel better... somehow.

there are other sucky things. do we want that every "has to" experience those.
