I'm still new to having bipolar and I've survived my first winter with depression. I'm wondering will I just automatically start feeling good when it's spring? Is it more abt daylight savings time? What is it about spring/summer? Will most bipolar people shedding their winter depression layer?

Not sure. I sometimes start to lose it around May. It's my other bad time. Late spring and late summer are when I tend to slip.

Dark Heart I've wondered how I will be. I wasn't stable last spring. I was on the wrong cocktail. I hope my current meds can keep me stabilized.

I do not know what the weather is like in TN. Do you have a drastic change of seasons?

My cycles tend to run right along with the light cycles.
I was feeling really down about things the other day. Then I looked at the calendar and saw what all March would bring: -Daylight Saving Time Begins -First Day of Spring -St. Patrick's Day -Easter I instantly felt a pick-up in my mood. As the days get longer and warmer and greener, I become happier. Hope the same happens for you. ![]()

I don't have a car so I will have to walk to work in the heat. t.t!!! I have been enjoying the cool weather that we're experiencing in AZ.

Spring has proven to be the time of onset for the worst moods/episodes. I am rather excited about summer though, because the mood stabilizer has been helping me a bit but apathy and lethargy remain often. In Spring and Summer I tend to be agitated and can't sleep -- but this year I am hoping that I can experience the increased energy without the dysphoria.
These past couple of weeks, however, have been panic attacks, panic attacks, panic attacks. Maybe Spring has already crept up on me and it's no fun at all. ![]()

then there are things that you can do once there is sunshine. say, ride a bike, go for a walk. those things, in turn, will make you feel better.

I enjoy the snow. It brings a bit of brightness to the dead and barren landscape

I don't mind snow as long as it doesn't mess too much with the roads.
![]() But I'm looking forward to summer this year in a massive way! Spring is usually pretty dreary around where I live.

I like spring best b/c it's not too hot. Where I live it gets hot in the summer. I'm just craving a season change. If I have to deal w/ cold weather and rain any longer I'm gonna snap. I'm sick of being depressed.

Oh, I'm definitely looking forward to spring and summer---it's simply the BEST time of the year for me! Of course, that depends on who you're speaking to; I love it, but my family and my pdoc worry that I'm going to do my manic thing again.
This is the first full year that I've been aware of my bipolarity, and even though most of my moods are pretty predictable, this hypomanic kick I've been on since early February is highly unusual. I've been in the dumper every year except this one---dunno if it's the recent med changes or simply the increased light (I am VERY light-sensitive)---but I love it!! So who knows what the coming 'happy seasons' will do? The only consistent thing about bipolar is its inconsistency, anyhow. ![]()
