So my pdoc is having me lower my risperdal from 3 mg a day to....
Week one-one in morning and at night
Week two-one only at night
Week three-stop completely
I'm on week two and I'm thinking that is what's causing the irritability.

Anybody else wean off risperdal? Did you have w/d symptoms?

risperadol scared me from the beginning. the first day I took it my heart started beating really fast.I stopped taking it before I had taken it very long. I read the side effects that could possibly happen and that was one of them.
too paranoid to continue.
warm thoughts

I just talked to her nurse. She is having me go back up to 2mgs a day.
One in the afternoon
One at night

I felt really stable at that dose. I'm sticking with it at least until I see pdoc again.

I've not taken risperdal, but yea sounds like need to taper more slowly, sorry you're going through it too lady

My older son has a breast growth from risperdal - it's known for causing that in young boys - he was on it around age 12-13... Poor guy 17 and he's so skinny you can see it through his shirt I guess I need to sue them to pay for his surgery. It also caused lactation in some women yikes! Not to scare you, but people should know about these risks, I think.

Take care, stay calm and turn up the tunes

Yeah I heard about those side-effects. Luckily I haven't had any issues. I can't turn on the music load bc my son is sleeping. Sleeping all day and up all night. We got into it the other day but saw my t yesterday and she said for right now just focus on stabilizing and worry about getting son on track later. I see his t next week, I doubt he'll go as he will be sleeping....ugh it drives me nuts seeing him waste his life. He has so much to offer.

I'm being quiet too, because I heard my son awake while I was getting younger one ready for school, so this means he jsut fell asleep. And we have therapy at noon - $120 I don't have, was going to ask her to give me some time to pay... but to get charged for a short notice cancellation

Glad you saw the T, that's a good idea get yourself stable first... but isn't it all so tied in together? I'm not ok when my kids aren't ok... ugh the impossible. I'll have to think about that idea today.

I know what you mean. He just isolates and plays video games all night. He's really into politics as well but he only looks at how screwed up something is rather than focusing on what HE can change. I feel so bad for him but he won't do anything about it. Its very hard I love him so much and want to see him happy, you know. One thing at a time. The men I know are like he'll be fine. Us women though hate to see our children struggling.
