I have gotten so worked up about my A.A. Sponsor telling me to go off benzos and asking the Pdoc for something else...after a week in the psyche ward, totally sober a year before going in there mind you and three ER visits for panic attacks before I found a Pdoc who is helping me. All this before I relapsed on alcohol for three weeks only.

She is not a dr but her friend is a psychologist. AA people are not susposed to play dr. I do t know what to do. I am so afraid.

Luckily she is a temp sponsor. I thimk I'm going to,tell her I called my Pdoc and he told me to not change a thing. We are just getting these new meds tweaked. That is the truth.

Breathing now...dang it...I hate this anxiety...sweating palms, racing heart...I know my body. She doesn't.mthe Pdoc does. Why do uneducated non professional people interfere with the med thing. I have bp1, mixed, rapid, psychosis, panic, and gad. What the heck....if I went off my meds I would drink.
Now my mom says I should get a job and I want to but I'm not stable enough. I am seeing gray splotches everywhere. Ugh..........

Ok help me calm Dow....please......someone

My hubby had a stroke last week. I had to call 911 and he was in hospital 3days....stress

(((bluewave7))) - you're completely right and I validate your upset feelings. I'm sure most people look up to their sponsors but she shouldn't be advising you to stop a medication because this is playing with fire. It might also sabotage your recovery too. Good thing she's only temporary and maybe you should also go above her ...explaining to her superior. Its a good idea to tell her you're not going to this and she can call your doctor. Tell your doctor what she said.

I hope hearing validation will calm your nerves. Take some slow deep breaths and keep doing whats best for you. A sponsor shouldn't be playing doctor. I hope you feel better soon and best of luck with your AA recovery.

here's the song that kicks sadness in the face. You're more agitated than sad, but maybe it'll help anyway.

It always makes me feel a little better. Sorry, my phone must have been stupid. It's San Fransisco by The Mowgli's in case you want to look it up.

Things like this happen a lot with dual diagnosis. It is hard for the addiction centered people in our lives to understand the bipolar side and vice versa. Maybe you could run it by your T to work out the best way to explain things more clearly to your sponsor in a way that he/she might understand?
