hello hun,
i would like to say something to you, if you dont mind. i also have bipolar II, and i can say from experience that starting and stopping meds off and on, isnt good for you. for one, you may or may not be giving the meds adequate time to work properly to stabilize your moods. plus, as you stop and start them, you lessen their chance of working right. take it from someone whos been there done it. ive started and stopped meds, god knows how many times and i do regret it, because they have in turn had to be switched to different dosages to compensate for my abruptly stopping them, or had to be changed all together. i know its a pain in the *** to have to take pills everyday, just to function normally in everyday life, but it is something that is vital. please take this time to assess your situation and to find out what is best for you in the long run. if meds are what you need, take them. if you feel they arent beneficial to you, then you might need to re-assess the situation with your p-doc or gp. let us know how things go. im here if you need to talk.

I also read that stopping meds that are working, then having a manic or depressive episode & wanting to go back on them doesn't mean the same meds will work for you again. This fear keeps me on my meds. I went through so much hell to get the right combo that I dare not go off them for fear that they might not work again for me.

I had an "episode"--first for me in a few yrs. & ended up in the ER Sat. night due to mixing too many Xanax with alcohol--not a suicide attempt--but I was trying to stop the emotional pain from a hurtful comment my husband made. I'm very dependant on his opinion of me to boost my self -esteem. I don't feel good about myself unless he is giving me positive vibes. Anyway, I told my story in another thread (I think that's what they are called--new to this online support stuff) so I won't go into the details here.

It's a hassle that a lot of us have to deal with. Is it more of a hassle than being angry and having bad moods and your family disliking your behavior?

Just wanted to let you know I will be on vacation for a week. I'll be monitoring myself to see if I have another episode. Right now I'm feeling great again so I hope that was an aberration. Take care, all.--Suzy

hi
I'm bipolar II also and I'm fortunate that I'm receiving great treatment. I was recently hospitalized and now my meds are stabilized. Currently I'm on Wellbutrin and Anafranil. Take care.
