You decide out of the blue that you're going to go to a comic con this year and you HAVE to make complicated costumes. You then proceed to buy all the necessary things for said costumes. Like, for example, metallic green spandex. You also decide you're going to try to make a full-bodysuit. For aforementioned costume.

When you stay up all night because you are manic, and sleep till 3pm in the afternoon. You love the nightlife more than daytime. Am I the only bipolar person that thinks so?

I used to be like that for years but it was detrimental to my health. Now I try extremely hard to stay in a regular sleep routine as that helps keep my mood stable. Over time I've started to enjoy the sunlight and being awake when it is light out. Not to say I dont have naps

You know you are bipolar when you randomly decided to go on a roadtrip 6 hours south without telling anyone where you are going or knowing where you are going to stay or how you are going to get back.

No you aren't! I'm trying hard to get myself on a sleep schedule so that I can go back to work in a week. It's much more fun to stay up all night!,,

Your thoughts are scattered all over the place and you act on them immediately. You go on Pinterest and see a recipe and bake that cake right now because you just have to have it. You get an email from a friend that reminds you of something and you run off to do that before you finish reading the email. You start to read a book, then after reading 1/2 a page remember the laundry and run off to put a load in the washer. Your friend calls to tell you about her bad day at work and you keep interrupting her because you can't stop thinking of something else, and your mind is all over the place. You can't sit still for 5 minutes because you think of something else that you have to do right this very minute.

That sounds like ADHD but my pdoc says I have BP2 not ADHD.

This is like me with thinking I need to dye my hair. Usually a bright colour. I think it was at about 2am yesterday, decided I would buy bleach, and use this bright blue I have. Then I remembered the phase I went through where I dyed my hair 10 different bright colours in a month and had to cut off 10 inches of it.

...you keep having packages arrive from eBay and totally forget buying them, then realise you've been late night shopping... AGAIN.

...you buy a car, sell your car then new car falls apart so you sell that within a day and buy an old bomb convinced that will get you by, then 2 weeks later buy another car and are still unsure you're happy with said car and need to sell the old one still.

(I'm on a roll lately)

When you unpack your suitcase and go "I forgot I bought that!' "I bought THAT MANY BOOKS?!" "Oh good lord, look at that pile of clothes!".

And then proceed to dump the clothes into one heaping pile in your doorway (because then you HAVE to put them away, and sort out clean from dirty), put the books on a shelf, and have everything else in piles.

Why? Because the set of zombie poetry magnets, and the set of Happiness poetry magnets, MUST be unpacked, separated, and stuck on the fridge. Priorities, people!

When you decide that a nap is not necesary even though you're rather tired and probably need one. And while you're at it, forget food. The air freshner smells like pumpkin spice so that should do.

When you decide to dance and sing along to the music in the supermarket because you feel so damn free. When you see atoms and molecules of every living thing and you think you can merge yourself into other beings. When fractals explain your whole life, when you are beyond human and think that sacrificing yourself to the light will solve humanities problems.
When light and sound become so overwhelming you can't breathe. When priests hang out in your backyard.

She exhausts me, so I only talk to her or see her when my mood is ok. I have call display, and if she phones when my mood is depressed or irritable I just don't answer the phone.

Her daughter has been diagnosed BP. Is it possible my friend is too? She just never shuts up.

Don't get me wrong - she's a very good person and would do absolutely anything to help me and her other friends. But she just talks too much and she wears me out.
Oh my god, you are talking about me! Crap, I thought I was just brilliant!

You know you're bipolar when you drive 100 miles an hour down a freeway because you feel you are invincible and nothing can touch you.

Yes. THIS. ^^

You also know you're bipolar when you drive that same 100 MPH down a freeway and wonder if it would kill you outright if you crashed into the median, or if you'd merely F yourself up and spend the next 30 years in a nursing home being tube-fed, turned every two hours and having your diapers changed because you have no bladder or bowel control.

You know I never thought of that. All the times I have ever done that. I thought nothing could touch me. Survival three car wrecks is a miracle. I am so lucky I didn't end up in the scenarios you described.

We (one of my grown sons and I) were in a car wreck earlier this week and count us and other motorist to be lucky. Tho it was not our fault, noone was cited by police, and insurance company and maybe her lawyer (she had slight personal injury from airbag I think), are all fighting it out, and we are out a truck, and down to one barely functioning vehicle, well at least we have that. And hub fixed running lights in it last nite for next to nothing. So, despite a bit of nerves, I'm thankful!!!!!!! I have actually had those thoughts before, a few posters back, but really glad I never acted on it, nor anyone else I love! Be well all, and be careful out there!

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings. It's just that most of the time I can't keep up with her. She's a really good friend and I feel bad when I don't answer her phone calls.

I thought that on Hwy 1 every day coming home from work at 5 pm. On Hwy 1 we drive 130 kph - that's only 80 mph. And on Hwy 1 close to where my oldest daughter lives is an overpass that forms a large S curve that gets very icy in winter. I always drive over it and wonder how it would feel to just drive off it and go sailing through the air. But I can't do that to my daughters.

A few months ago, I was convinced I had ADHD for exactly what you are describing. I could not focus on anything. I had never felt like that before. I called my pdoc and asked him about it and he told me to start taking Seroquel again because I was likely cycling into hypomania. Turns out he was right. For some reason I thought having ADHD would be better, easier to fix somehow.....
