When you look behind you and everything you see that is your history is a vast wasteland of broken promises, dreams, and lives.

When you get the uncontrollable giggles during the most devastating event.

When you feel so angry that you feel you could throw a rhino.

You know you're bipolar when you make it productive... yesterday your walk in closet had a floor made from piles & boxes of clothes (that you didn't need to buy in the first place) & today you've got a neatly organized closet & goodwill has gotten some brand new swag. Bam. Sometimes it's useful, I guess. Most times it sucks.

I once laughed in a guy's face when he told me his dad had just died in a parachute accident

You start a new hobby, spending hundreds of dollars on eBay to get the supplies, spend days making the dolls that you wills sell for hundreds of dollars on eBay. You show everyone you know some of the dolls for sale online and explain how this hobby will make you a lot of money. You come down from the mania and realize you HATE this hobby.

You need a shirt so you get on the LLBean website and order 20 long sleeve, V-neck pima cotton t-shirts at $24.95 each.

You get online, again, and buy 3 pairs of jeans, all different sizes because your diet is going to start working any time now.

You go and get a haircut so that they'll wash your hair and you won't have to take a shower.

When you have a one year old car but buy a new car, same make and model (just a different color) because you HAVE to have leather seats.

When a siding sales man knocks on your door, introduces himself and says he is selling house siding and you reply, "Great, I am buying siding". No negotiations in this purchase!

Packages keep arriving and you don't know what is in them because you can't remember everything you ordered so you stack them in the hall. Soon you have to edge by the boxes to get to the bathroom.

OMG I bought so much crap off ebay that we knew the UPS man by name.
I had so many things show up once I went totally hypo and called off work just so I could have my own personal Christmas. I couldn't even tell you what I bought, but my guess is that is was a ton of Tommy Baham and Nautica stuff.

You apply for a brand new credit card JUST so you can buy all the crap you 'won' on ebay.

I don't have credit cards. They're impossible to get in Canada after I did a bankruptcy and had my car repossessed. Bankruptcy in Canada seems like forever. My brother lives in Los Angeles and 6 months after his bankruptcy he had a new credit card, and 6 months after that he bought a bigger house with a nice fat mortgage. Not in Canada.
But my not having credit cards keeps me out of a lot of trouble. I used to max them out and then ask for a higher credit limit or get a new one.

.... when you're so used to how you behave in different states that you can fake seeming like you're hypped up, even when you're in a mild/moderate depression. To the extent that people comment on the fact that you don't seem depressed, when you've been telling them about it for weeks.

Your to do list requires at least 3 people to accomplish but you try in vain to do it all yourself in the same amount of time and then get depressed when you fail.

Heehee. Or when their eyes go big in fear because you've just explained that you want them to combine elements of 3 different haircuts that you found pictures of online from a salon in Portugal. (And lug in your laptop to show them.) This event transpires, naturally (in BP Land anyway), because you were up in the middle of the night trying to give yourself a major haircut by hacking at it with a pair of dollar store scissors, because, really, how hard could it be?! Bonus points for thinking that not being able to see the back of your head while doing this won't be a problem.

It'll be awesome!!! No, it'll require finding a hairdresser asap the next day and wearing a hat. Because there's no amount of claiming artistic license that is going to fool anybody...

(And as they approach with trepidation, you keep saying, "Awww, go on! Let it rip! I'm not afraid!" Because really, as if they could possibly make it worse! Besides, you've obviously already proven that you ARE fearless!)

when you don't know if you're a bit drunk or just feeling a bit like you're in an up. The fact that you've been drinking a smaller amount of alcohol than normal is the confusion point, because you normally SHOULDN'T be drunk but are in a depression and feel mildly drunk. So drunk or feeling more up? Or even feeling baseline? Who knows!

bahahaha! Yep that was me. I went from dark brown to tri-colour to wanting MORE blonde and red in the tricolour to going "I want to be blonde" and she said that there was too much dye in my hair to go totally blonde. So we are working our way towards that. I'm in a depression now, but I decided when I was in the up with that that after the blonde I was going to do blonde awith red underneath after I got all blonde.

I'll stick with that schedule too. Even in the middle of a depression.
