Thanks I have a plan which includes taking my meds, not self medicating with alcohol or anything else, exercise, and talk therapy. Hopefully I can get past this all.

I'm doing good, I think. I feel stable and I've only been having one drink a day - and during the evening time with friends and not secretly during the day all alone. I'm kind of tempted but really I'm really obsessed with my hair which might point a sign to something what with being so obsessed, but I'm feeling more on track than when I started the thread.

Thanks for asking!

I miss vodka sometimes. It is such a sure way to make one feel temporarily 'better' I have not had a drink in 1 year and 10 months - it is a great start to help bipolar disorder and a pretty disappointing end to not curing it! I am so much better off for not drinking, just takes that extra 'issue' to deal with away.

I medicated my BP with alcohol for over ten years. When I was manic, drinking took the edge off and slowed down my racing thoughts. When I was depressed, it helped me get through the day, it made the night come quicker and it helped me sleep.

Eventually I got on meds and slowed down on the drinking. I still had BP episodes, but seemed better.....but the drinking got away from me. A manic episode combined with way too much alcohol led me to a very dark place.

I quit drinking completely three years ago and it was the best thing I have ever done for my mental and physical health. Now I take my meds exactly as prescribed and try to live healthier.

I still have my mood episodes but they are much less pronounced.

Best of Luck to you.
