My T ran out of samples of Lexapro which means I'm going to be out, cold turkey. Anyone know what kind of withdrawals I'm going to go thru? Thanks.

{{{{{{{{{{{Mary Alice}}}}}}}}}}}}} Can she suppliment with Celexa? It's a very close relative of Lexapro.

Last time I went off of Lexapro, I didn't have any withdrawals... except to get depressed again. Lexapro Withdrawals

Good luck, Sweety! Lexapro Withdrawals

If it's only a few days to one week, I do not forsee (sp?) any problems.
I also think it may depend on dosage and length of time you have been on Lexapro, to notice any changes.
Just my opinion. When I have been tapered off the SSRI's I had no problems, except Zoloft, I got "brain zaps" on and off for a month. Nothing devastating, just a strange physical sensation, I can't even put into words to describe it. I would contact the prescribing physcian and ask him or her what to expect, and if alternatives can be used, Celexa is very similar to Lexapro, even have heard Lexapro called Celexa's cousin.
Lots of luck with this, let us know how it you make out with this.
Take care,
DE

Thanks, Tomi and DE...............I got lucky and more samples came in. I made a fast drive there and got some which my T left up at the receptionist desk for me.

I did notice a change though and it wasn't good. I've been on Lexapro for a long time now and the depression started really coming back. But it's all good now Lexapro Withdrawals

Thanks for caring........{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}

I'm glad you got more samples.

When I was on Lexapro it gave me one huge mood swing each day. Therefore it drastically affected me each day if I didn't take it, but it was pretty obvious that it wasn't working right for me so my meds got switched.

I'm glad it's working for you though, and that you got more samples.

When I stopped cold turkey on Lexapro I had major withdrawl problems. I think I may have even had some psychosis. I had extreme anxiety and paranoia. It was just awful. I could hardly function at work. I started back up again and now I'm on Celexa.

I'm glad you got more samples.

im in the same boat. i take 100mg of zoloft a day & in the past month some days ive taken more. so i have some cymbalta left from when i was on it & i was wondering if i could take it until my zoloft refill. i know cymbalta affects norepinephrine along with serotonin but zoloft only affects serotonin. next time im gonna try & get my zoloft raised. i wish u the best on your meds. i know how u feel. right now im relying on my Pdoc to give me samples of abilify & straterra cuz of financial probs. hard to afford anything that does not come in generic. it seems like my doc is more cooperative when my hubby is in there with me.
