I have ADD (inattentive type) and PTSD symptoms from several things that have happened recently in addition to Bipolar II.

I guess I'm luckier than most because I'm very physically healthy. No allergies, never get sick, etc. Though my one minor chronic problem is hypotension, which has ended up being problematic with bipolar meds, since a lot of them can lower blood pressure and I don't have any room for it to drop below the normal 100/60 without getting dizzy and light-headed. I seem to have found a med that doesn't do that too badly, though, as long as I drink a cup of coffee and smoke some cigarettes with it, lol. My vices keep me conscious.

BP2
ADHD
Depression NOS
PCOS
Restless legs syndrome
Various allergies to food and chemicals

I also have a caring family and professional support system, and some wonderful friends. As difficult as mental illnesses might be, sometimes they can help us gain a greater perspective on life.

There are things I've learned about people and the world that I might not have without my illnesses. I believe that I'm becoming a more caring, thoughtful, and less self-centered person as a result of my journey with BP. I am so grateful for the life that I do have, and I want to help others see the beauty in their lives.

I am truly, truly lucky.

I have bipolar and schizotypal disorder, with possible prodromal schizophrenia (schizoaffective). I also have a lot of anxiety, but I think that's because of the bipolar.

My psychiatrist said I have borderline tendencies, but. I don't believe he made a diagnosis because they don't severely interfere with my life. I was also diagnosed with ADD before they found out I had Bipolar but I doubt I have it now. I don't say anything thought because I love the stimulants.

I must say I'm plain curious to why someone would say they might be schizotypal. It is a a kind of strange diagnosis I don't know what to think of.

My official list:
Depression with anxiety (which actually is one thing, it's some new fancy Euro DX) (BP might still be on the table but I don't think so)
OCD
AS
ADD
Lupus/Sjogrens or maybe AI overlap syndrome

What I have and they know but don't diagnose separately:
Panic attacks
DSPS
SAD

What they don't know I have:
Gender dysphoria
Some type of mild dissociation (or whatever... I really don't know what to call it)
-those are things I will take to my grave, LOL

Still, for me it doesn't feel like a lot. My depression is treated and not nearly as bad as it was. The way I suffer from Asperger's and ADD is I have really sucky executive functioning skills. The other things are mainy a bonus. OCD is cut in half with meds and doesn't bother me as bad as it did, it was vile for a bit, still hate it. Panic attacks are few and far between but it is what I hate the MOST. The SAD I can live with but I sort of live a half life, I just get by in winters. The DSPS I fight with daily and sometimes I get soooooo annoyed because it really, really affects me. MY AI makes me tired to the bone and more.

Still... alive and kicking! Now if they could finally make that drug for DSPS (since they cracked the code) and a GOOD med for lupus, nothing could hold me back I think.

I have been diagnosed with it. Here in Europe (and I think most of the world) it is not a personality disorder (and I think it's plain silly to call it a PD). I also think it's a strange disorder, but it is definitely way besides the norm, and it can and does cause problems. It is genetically related to schizophrenia, it runs in families, and it is usually easy to detect. I don't think it is strange that someone would self-diagnose themselves with this.

I always joked around that "that would be Lady Gaga" but she admitted to hearing voices and other forms of insanity and that her out of there appearance is way to deal with it.

So eh, might be something to that label. But imho, it's just odd combo of anxiety and eccentricity.

Hi Jimi...i diagnosed myself with schizotypal disorder for the reasons VH and Axiom stated above. Basically a label for my eccentricity. Thrown in with a baseline of paranoia. Schizoaffective PD might be better.

I went through a similar process of diagnosis, although I hated the stimulants and antidepressants -- they just induced hypomania, anxiety and ultimately a psychotic break. So be careful. There's a lot of literature on why stimulants and bipolar disorder tend not to mix that well.

I do have bipolar, though it does not come up on neuropsych testing (but I was taking Lithium when I was tested in late 2012 and late 2013 - it didn't occur to me to get a test when I was not on meds). I also have anxiety of a non-social kind (say, if I am anxious, I stop eating and drinking, but I can still reconcile spreafsheets and make presentations, so basic functioning gives out while high functioning keeps kicking), and I have a separate dx for it (300- garden variety anxiety nos). I have hypothyroidism due to Lithium. Also have migraine headaches.

It affects only my right side so I have a strange gate. I'm a good 2 inches shorter on my right side. My right side is very spastic. If I don't pay attention my arm rests against my chest but I can't really move my right hand on its own.

its not as bad as it sounds.

I know that the range is very wide between debilitating and basically almost ok. I am relieved that your case is not severe.
