I lost my mother two months ago... I spent the first two weeks blackout drunk and after that started abusing sleeping pills. I told a friend about the alcohol and that I wasn't drinking anymore but not why. The pills I kept a secret until yesterday. I told 3 people and my therapist about it and got all of the pills and alcohol out of my house. I live alone and don't work. At first I could clearly see that the situational depression and the bp were separate and managed to keep that going for 6 weeks. But then the 2 collided and I don't know which end is up. I can't stop crying and I don't know what to do to make the pain stop. Obviously the drugs and alcohol aren't the answer but if anyone has some tips on how you've gotten thru this it would be really appreciated cus I need this pain to stop. I see my pdoc next week but don't want to change my meds since I finally found a combo that was working great until this happened. Help please.

I sorry you lost your mom. Having lost mine several years ago, I know it will take time. Have you considered therapy to help you through the grief? I started a journal written to my mother, which helped me keep her closer to me. It's the hardest thing I've ever gone through. I still have days that I miss her so much it hurts. But time does ease the pain. I'm sorry there is no quick fix for grief. Thinking of you.

I have therapy every two weeks normally and have made it more often right now. I have a fake email address that I write to several times a day that I can "talk" to her on. Neither has been helping.

Try partial hospitalization for now. AA or other group program at night because you need all the support you can get

My mom is dying of cancer right now. It is so painful and I can't imagine what you are going thru. I'm so very sorry for yr loss. What's getting me thru is talking to my two closest friends. Have you looked into a grief group? Try and find one. Many times churches have them. Just take yr meds and remind yr self that they DO work for you...that is what I am doing to get thru this. Remember how well they worked before she passed and that can help you realize that they are helping you even if you feel like they feel like they aren't. Remember that you are inn the grieving process and it takes time. My mood is unstable right now even tho I'm properly medicated. It's totally normal. Maybe use an anti anxiety med to help ease the stress and pain. Xanex is.really helping me right now. Be easy on yr self. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
