Insomnia is the worst bp symptom for me because it hits me when I'm up and it hits me when I'm down. Drat. I'm not sleeping and none of my usual sleeping drugs are doing the trick. Me being up for too many days in a row usually means bad things, so I stress out about that and that's no way to lull yourself to sleep.
I'm going to puke if I drink one more cup of herbal tea and I'm a big prune from so many warm baths. I've tried reading the most boring books I've got, listening to soothing music, meditating, deep breathing, and sex. I've even tried lying still in bed with my eyes closed. I think I'm going to have to pay someone to hit me with a bat or something. Or maybe find a disreputable anesthesiologist to hook me up and knock me out. I just need to sleep. I'm so tired and so wired at the same time. I hate this. I hate this. And the worst thing is I don't think this qualifies as an emergency to page pdoc for. What's he going to do, sing me a lullaby? Also, it seems a bit mean to page him and wake him up to tell him I'm still not sleeping. Kind of like saying hey taste this it's awful. Besides, my only drug options left will zonk me out so much I can't get through the days and that doesn't do me much good with a family to take care of. Ahhhh to be battery powered. Sorry to ***** and moan. Nothing like a good moan session when you're up in the night...I've often thought that I'd have much more productive therapy sessions if they could happen at 1 am. Too bad.

{{{{{{{{{{{{JonB}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} Hon, I know how you feel. I hate it too, and I'm having one of the worst mixed episodes right now, it's getting to be wayyy to longgggggg.
Do you work out? Have you tried writing down whatever is in your mind? That has helped me. I hope this pass soon. ~Hugs~ |

I had insomnia for 10 years before Dec 06. It got to the point where I truly believed no one slept. Boy was I wrong! So far I have only stayed up 1 time with insomnia since then. My seroquel works good for that. I am sorry you have to go through the sleepness nights, not should have to go through that. If it was me, I would call my pdoc, maybe not in the middle of the night, but for sure in the a.m. Know you are not alone and I do hope you sleep soon.

Jon, it sounds like we remain in the same sinking boat with no sleep but tonight I'm going to do whatever it takes for some sleep. I have no one to take care of or who cares when or if I wake up tomorrow so somehow I'm going to sleep......I hope that it will come soon for you without the desperate measures.
Take care, Lori |

Can you break it in half? Have you tried seroquel before? or trazadone...that works for many people with sleep issues. I now take ambien cr 12mg...I took lunesta for a year then it stopped working... before that I took jsut plain old benadryl for 2 years then it stopped working. I too treid all the other stuff and those things did not help me. One thing I do knkow that helps is getting into a regular sleep routine. going to bed at the same time, light reading ...not computer time before bed...too stimulating! I really feel for you...as I too suffered with insomnia and restless leg syndrome. I also know several folks who use small amounts of benzos to help them sleep at night...like .5mg of klonipin. I wish you well. bizi

I know what it's like, I am going through this too right now. Don't give up on finding a medication that works for you. I know that I have tried many things to sleep at night and sometimes meds are the only answer. If nothing is working for you---bother your doctor. Ihat's what he is there for.

I care if you wake up tomorrow so don't over do it with the pills. Call your doc now or go to the hospital and let them put you to sleep safely. It can be done.
If they aren't helpful, get pushy and make them give you what they need. If you tell them you're prepared to take as many pills as it takes to not be awake anymore they will listen. And it sound like you're at that place I've been where you would do anything to just not have to be awake anymore. Let the pros put you to sleep and when you wake up, you will have done something. You will have slept. Trust me on this, mixing all the sleeping pills and taking the mega doses is not going to get you any more sleep or better quality sleep. It's just going to make you dazed and confused and puking your guts up (if you're lucky). Go find a doctor to put you to sleep now. Immediately. Just do it. And come back and let me know when you are awake. I need another insomniac around here to keep me company. Of course, I'm happy to entertain myself if you're finally able to get some sleep. Just send the sleepy vibes along for the rest of us. Here we go chasing you to the doc ![]()

yes it is! Even when my body finally gets tired, my brain just keeps working until it is mentally exhausted and then depression starts, then I can fall asleep at the drop of a hat. Klonopin with Seroquel is the only way I can get some sleep. Sometimes, I have to take up to 2 mg, I have been on it since 99. I also find that not sleeping makes me the big witch which doesn't do my husband very well. He can't understand that sleep just can't come, actually, other than other people with these issue can't understand. How do you tell a person you can't "just turn off the TV and try to sleep" it doesn't happen for me anyway. Not the best sleep you ever had just taking pills but sometimes some sleep is better than the alternative just laying there with you're thoughts going 20 different places and thinking way too much. Talk to the doc and keep us updated
As always good luck, KMarie |

For me, I loved the insomnia--I was hypo manic & would sleep about 3 hours & then feel really revved up. My husband had to sleep in another room (for other reasons as well--having bad marr. probs.), but i could read & enjoy myself being alone. Now I've been put on Trazodone & klnonopin cuz I eventually crashed into a major depression, but now I sleep about 6 hours a night & I miss the free time I had when manic.--Suzy
