Here lately I have had weird sleeping patterns. I go to bed around 11:30, but Im up at crazy time. One day 7:00, some days 3:00. and today 4:45. I do head back to bed a little later if I start feeling tired. These times include the sleeping pills.

Does anyone else do this. I was told its a bipolar thing.

It's 5 am and i've been awake 1/2 an hour. I don't start work until 9, so this is way too early. Maybe i can fall back to sleep for a bit. This sucks, sorry you have this too.

I have a mild case of delayed sleep phase disorder. I have a ton of energy at night and have difficulty falling asleep, and no matter what I try, I have difficulty getting up in the morning.

I have tried everything to stop this, but its a part of my bodies circuitry, hormones, etc. The only thing keeping me somewhat 'normal' is my daily job which forces me out of bed in the morning by the motivation to make money, eat and survive.

A few years ago, I quit my job and was launching my own business. The first 6 months I was working on my marketing strategy and didn't have to go anywhere in the morning, and this is when I really noticed the problem. I would go to bed as late as 3 am, and wake up as late as 11am. I am back to a normal pattern, but as always, I still feel energetic late at night, and I feel like a zombie in the morning.

When I am really manic, it gets worse of course, and I barely sleep at all.

11:30-7 actually sounds like a good night's rest! hahaha.

So yes. Yes I have a messed up sleep. I also have frequent wakings and tons of nightmares. And I can rarely get myself back to sleep once I've been up for more than like 10 minutes.

I have to keep a really strict sleep routine to try and help keep it under wraps.

Try your sleeping pills on your first round of sleep not the second.

I'm wrestling with sleep issues, too. I thought I'd really gotten it together, but lately I've been sleepy during the day and end up taking naps (not good!), and in spite of the naps I'm still tired at night.

So I guess I need to tweak my sleep schedule a little bit.

buzz bee, when do you take your meds? Do you take the trazodone at night?

I fell asleep around 1:30 am woke up at 4:30am then was able to sleep again from around 9am to noon, yeah my sleep is messed up...but then it has been for most of my life. I'm told too that its related to BP.

I suffered from insomnia for years. My sleep patterns were so off. I now have the opposite effect where I can't get enough sleep, but I am now on a major tranquelizer that I take at night. I do believe that our sleep patterns can vary in each direction due to the bipolar.
